Gifts | Father’s Day Present Ideas

Ok you lovely lot, it’s not time to panic just yet but Father’s Day is approaching! It’s three weeks away so there’s plenty of time to get organised. I love doing gift guides, I really do! I love giving people ideas for Father’s Day and always hope that if I don’t have the right idea I can at least plant a seed of inspiration. You know your dad better than anyone so you’ll know what’s right for him, but if you don’t there I’ve rustled up a few ideas that encompass lots of different budgets which I’m sure will get you ahead of the game.

Flight Simulator Experience (Prices from £109)

Hey big spender! Really looking forward to treating your dad this Father’s Day, eh? Well let your dad take flight with an experience he’s not likely to forget. As he takes his steps through the cockpit door and nestles himself into his seat at the flight deck, your dad will become the Captain of a Boeing 737 aircraft simulator. Keeping it as real as possible he’ll carry out real pre-flight checks and talk to Air Traffic Control with a fully qualified instructor who will also talk him through all the controls. He’ll then experience the exciting take off sensations as well as climbing, cruising and landing the aircraft. I’ve got be honest, this is something I would love to do myself and I’m a ‘teeny’ bit jealous of any dad who gets to do this. Flight Experience London are offering special Father’s Day flight packages starting from just £109.

Personally I know I’d rather spend a bit more and get my dad something he really wants, rather than spending it on loads of little bits that’ll sit in the back of a drawer (you can guarantee that’ll happen!). But, if you don’t want to spend that much then read on for more ideas or enter this fab giveaway to win your dad a 30 minute flight experience worth £140. Terms and conditions are at the bottom of the post.

The Legends Barbershop (Prices from £6)*

Launched in 2012 this unique range of men’s grooming products by The Legends Barbershop has been handcrafted in store by head barber Darius Kravitz. These vintage style products were inspired by a hunt for product perfection. Now, some of your dads won’t have hair and other dad’s will have loads but there is something for everyone in this range. The collection includes gel, pomade and the award winning ‘Alum Matchsticks’ – which are literally a stroke of genius.

The matches are made from all natural stone called ALUM and it’s known for it’s naturally hypoallergenic and antiseptic qualities. It stops bleeds and soothes cuts and grazes caused by shaving, which we are probably all pretty familiar with – even us women. And, let me tell you, it’s better than wandering around with a bit of tissue stuck to your razor cut.

This whole range is ideal for travel so if your dad is on the road a lot, this is great to take along. They smell good, they look good and your dad will look pretty good too, I’m sure. You can check out the full range here. And I have a chance for you to win the range too! Check out terms and conditions at the bottom of the post.

Google Home (£129)

This hands free smart speaker by Google is so, so cool. I’ve seen quite a few bloggers mention this and it’s been on quite a lot of Instagram stories and I’m a little bit jealous. In fact, I’d go so far as to say I’ve put this in the Father’s Day gift guide just so that everyone can enjoy one. I haven’t seen it actually advertised by Google yet though.

Designed to simplify your every day life it’s voice activated and powered by the Google Assistant. You can use voice commands to get answers about the weather, manage everyday tasks and tell it to play music. It’s compatible with both Android and iOS and you can control compatible smart devices such as Chromecast or Nest too.

It can set alarms, start timers and add items to shopping lists as well as letting you know about finance, sports and even where the nearest pharmacy is. Super cool gadget and one for the technology loving dads out there.

Personalised Watch (£59.99)*

A personalised watch for me is a thing of beauty. I like when they’re given for milestone achievements and it should be something that lasts a lifetime. I know that dads like personalised jewellery but it’s got to be right. Sometimes you can overdo it but personalised items have that keepsake air about them and they’re things you’ll maybe want to pass down one day.

GiftsOnline4U offer a wonderful range of engraved watches. This particular one features gold hands and minute markers (and gold is totally coming back in you know) on an ivory white dial. The brown, real leather strap complements it really well and is adjustable. The back is stainless steel and able to be engraved.

The watch also comes with a day and date function which is shown sequentially in Spanish and English. You can add your own personal message to be engraved on the back which makes the watch unique to your dad. The message can be up to 85 characters over 7 lines.

Once it’s been engraved (in house) it’s displayed in a stylish presentation box and you can choose extras such as a holographic gift bag or a greetings card. A fab gift for any time keeping dad.

Snack Hamper (£ whatever you can afford)

Now, my husband eats a lot of food and he also snacks a lot. I also snack a lot so what better than a snack hamper? It could be made up of his favourite sweets and chocolate if he has a sweet tooth, if he’s a gym buff think about putting some beef jerky in there with some low calorie popcorn, if he likes biscuits in his tea get the man some biscuits.

The beauty about this snack hamper is that you can spend whatever it is you can afford. You can buy him as many or as few snacks as you like. You could also add a gift certificate for somewhere or add a DVD of his favourite movie and make a night of it with him. It’s totally customisable and up to you. Cheap and cheerful!

Treasure Trail (£6.99 Each)*

This is a great one if you’ve got small children and are looking for things to do over the weekend. Treasure Trails are a fun and imaginative way to get outdoors. They’re self guided, themed walking treasure hunts which are ideal for discovering more about where you live or are great for taking on holiday.

There are over 1,100 trails available which cover everything from towns to cities to rural areas across the UK. All trails are listed so you should be able to find something really close by. There are three themes to the trails; treasure hunt, spy mission or murder mystery. At the outset of each trail a ‘mission’ is given; you’ll either be finding the treasure, cracking a spy code or discovering ‘whodunnit’.

An easy route is followed around where you’re based and you answer a series of clues which involve interesting, scenic and historical sites along the way. The trails come in A5 booklets and are perfect for a family of 4-5. The length of the trails vary but most average around 2 miles and take a couple of hours to complete. What better way to spend Father’s Day than exploring with the kids?

Want to get your hands on a trail near you? Enter the giveaway below where SIX of you will win one! Terms and conditions at the bottom of this post.

Gentleman’s Afternoon Tea (From £20pp)

When you think of Father’s Day I can’t imagine that an afternoon tea would be the first idea that pops up but seriously… hear me out. The Bedford Lodge Hotel & Spa have come up with a Gentleman’s Afternoon Tea, a ‘masculine’ twist to the traditional afternoon tea usually enjoyed more by women (let’s be honest here).

I’m actually a little sad that this is a bit too far from where I live because it sounds like something I would enjoy any day and something that I’d really love to take my dad to. The Bedford Lodge club sandwich sounds amazing, alongside savouries such as sausage rolls and mini pasties, finished with some cakes and fancies – oh yes! The lemon loaf slice is one I’d like to get my hands on.

Add some beer for dad, or even for you, and enjoy the afternoon tea on the sun terrace overlooking the lawns and rose gardens. It doesn’t sound like the most ‘manly’ of events but when you’re treating your dad I’m sure he’d be happy just to spend some time together.

Apple AirPods (£159)

If your dad likes to listen to a lot of things (other than nagging of course) these wireless headphones from Apple will be a pretty exciting treat. Whether your dad goes out running in the evening, goes to the gym, listens to podcasts on the commute or hates a wire hanging down the side of his face when he’s on a phone call these AirPods are a winner. Yes, they’re a little pricey but I love Apple products and they rarely go wrong.

Bad Boy Chilli Tube*

This is one for the dads who love a bit of spice in their life! This ‘Bad Boy Chilli Tube’ by Farm Shop Larder is the ultimate gift set for chilli lovers who want a taster selection of some pretty yummy chillis. There are four jars of chilli puree in the tube; chilli and vinegar being the only ingredients. They’re great for adding a kick to your every day meals; think spaghetti bolognese, lasagne, curries or even making your own home made chilli hummus and that’s all without your dad having to chop one bit of chilli.

Flavours range from Scotch Bonnet, Habanero, Scorpion, Kernow Gold and Naga (ghost) with each jar telling you the intensity of the chilli. Believe me, you won’t need much of it when you come to use them.

In the tube you’ll also get a sheet which comes with some hints, tips and some pretty good looking recipes. I’m really excited to make the guacamole that they’ve come up with! What will your dad make?

*I have been compensated to include these items in the gift guide either by means of payment or receipt of products. All views and opinions are my own.
