I’ve just about scraped through this week, I’m not really sure what’s happened. It all seems to have gone in a blur but I have had enough happening to write a Little Loves update. And it’s a week of new things!
This week I’ve been reading through a new cookbook that I bought last week. It’s the Hemsley Hemsley Good + Simple Cookbook and oh my are there some recipes that I want to try. It’d cropped up on Instagram a few times and I thought this would be a really good way to try some new recipes and to also eat a bit more wholesomely.
So this week I took the kids to soft play, paid £7.20 for the privilege of going in, sat down and started letting them roam around to explore a bit. The next thing I know they’ve spotted the big Peppa Pig electric toy that literally sucks your purse dry because you can guarantee the kids will want a go on it at 50p for a 20 second ride. But guess what? I didn’t give in! And so I watched my kids throw themselves on the floor having a paddy because “mummy has run out of all her pennies”. The best bit is when they throw their heads back. I mean they’ve got like 4 slides, a ball pit and heavens knows what else for them to do in that huge area, but no, they wanted to suck the last couple of quid I had in my purse for a really pants ride. Oh no boys, that £1.95 in my purse is for my hot chocolate. They finally realised I wasn’t giving in and went off to play while I sat and had a small hot chocolate and it was nothing a packet of Pom Bears couldn’t fix. Mummy – 1, kiddos – zero.
I’ve been making lots of decisions about what do to with my blog and how to go about making it a sustainable and regular source of income. With that came the ‘ums’ and ‘ahs’ about the design, theme and layout and so I made the decision to invest in a much better theme and have spent the last few days tinkering. I guess you could say I’ve made progress this week. I’m moving in the right direction and hopefully I’ll be heading for some good opportunities! What do you think?
Well, since you asked! I’m now one of those people who wear glasses. I wore glasses for a short spell back in year 9 and I thought I was the bee’s bloody knees when I first got them. Now I realise how much of a pain in the arse they are, but it’s also made me realise that actually I can’t bloody seen so I’ve been sporting two new sets of glasses over the last week or so. How do they make me look?
This week I’ve heard from a lot of PRs who have approached me with some opportunities, which is always really lovely. However, I’ve been turning a lot of them down for various reasons. I really love it when they ask you to do something, or if you’d like to be part of a campaign, but it’s so disheartening to hear some of their responses. Sometimes I don’t feel that valued as a blogger and that’s something I want to work on this year as a whole. I’m having the confidence to say ‘no’ a lot more in the hope that something more suitable will land in my inbox because I really have to know my own worth. I don’t have the time to blog 24/7 and so my time is so precious and I want to fill that with things I’m excited about!
Keeping with the theme of ‘new’ I thought it might interest some of you to know that we are looking at moving this year – potentially! The market where we are at the moment isn’t moving that much and we don’t have very many properties to choose from but hopefully we’ll find something that works for us as we have, kind of, outgrown where we are at the moment. I’m so excited to be house hunting but I’m absolutely not getting my hopes up that we’ll find anywhere this year. I really want our next house which will be ‘new to us’ to be our family home for a good few years. It might be perfect and not need anything doing to it, or it may be an ongoing project!
