Little Loves | Nandos With Friends, Back To Work & Setting Goals

This is my first ever Little Loves post and I hope this will be a regular weekly feature on the blog for me. I’m all about positivity this year, although despite my great intentions I am sat here suffering with a cold and was laid up with a bad back yesterday, so it’s not the best of starts to the year. However, I really want to try and focus on all the wonderful things around me and learn to appreciate the little things a lot more and this seems like the perfect way for me to do that!

Despite the ongoing illness and aches I’ve still managed to gather a few things for the post this week. We’ve half gotten back into our routines now Jamie and I are back at work after a truly wonderful Christmas break, and next Monday reality will really hit! Here goes nothing..

One of my bucket list goals this year is to read a book a month. But before I start that I really need to finish the book I’ve been reading since, at least, March last year. Eek. I’m going to bed earlier and have been reading at least a chapter a night instead of being on my phone. ‘The Amber Spyglass” by Philip Pullman is the third in the ‘Dark Materials’ trilogy. I first read this trilogy during my early high school years and hadn’t picked it up since. Jamie got it for me a couple of Christmases ago and it really has taken me that long to read it. Oops!

Since it’s been Christmas, there have been a lot of ‘specials’ on the telly and that’s probably about the only thing we’ve been watching to be honest! Revolting Rhymes has been a fantastic tv adaptation and the boys have really enjoyed watching it too. I love all these books being made into proper little shows. They’re great for the kids but are so adult friendly too! It’s up there with The Gruffalo, The Gruffalo’s Child and Room on the Broom. Oh and did you catch ‘We’re Going On A Bear Hunt’?.

I haven’t really ‘made’ much this week other than a fair amount of SB on Swagbucks which is a little side hobby. But, I made a list of the things I want to achieve this year in the form of a bucket list; I’m all about setting reasonable and achievable goals! As I said, I’m all about positivity but I’m looking at totally overhauling the way I do and see things and myself and in order to do that I thought that a ‘list’ of something to achieve for the year was a good way to start.

This week I’ve been wearing a few picks from the River Island sale but my favourite t-shirt that I picked up was one with an embroidered tiger on it. I actually got it because I thought it’d be cool for Toby to notice that I was wearing a tiger as he loves wearing his own tiger t-shirt; yes, I’m that cool a mum. Other than that I’ve been lounging in my new ‘Mother’ sweatshirt from Selfish Mother that I got for Christmas and it is sooooo comfy and I want to buy about 500 more so I can wear them every day.

Ed Sheeran is BACK with two new tracks and I’ve heard them both quite a lot today so that’s what I’ve mostly been listening to! You can check hear his new track ‘Castle on the Hill’ on the BBC Radio 1 website where he does his first live performance of it. Eek, welcome back Ed! I fancy you. A lot.

And lastly..

We managed to sneak in a last minute Nando’s date with our friends on Monday as our first post Christmas get together. As per usual the kids were a ‘delight’ and I don’t think we could’ve eaten our food any quicker! Oh, and it totally cocked up my new meal plan goals for the year. There’s always next week, right?

I’ve yet to watch Revolting Rhymes! I’ve never read the Dark Materials trilogy, another one to add to the list. I really want a Selfish Mother jumper, maybe for my birthday in April! Hope you feel better soon lovely xx

We too watched Revolting Rhymes but it didn’t live up to all the hype.
