Wow, so it’s been a good few weeks since I did a Little Loves post, mainly because of how our holiday fell but I really want to make sure I’m keeping up with this. It gives me a chance to breathe, relax and reflect on the week that’s passed, or in this case – weeks. So what’s been happening and what have I been loving?
While I was on holiday I made a point of not taking a big book to read. Instead I took my Kindle and downloaded a few short stories so that I could actually finish something. I wanted to be able to snatch five minutes here and there and at least make progress with a book, rather than just reading a couple of pages. I’ll admit, reading a Kindle isn’t the same as a book; I love the feel of a book, the smell of a book and the Kindle doesn’t come close but it did allow me to have a few minutes of peace when the kids were occupied.
I’ve also been reading this incredibly helpful post all about increasing your Pinterest numbers by Nicola over at Nicola Says. It’s really interesting actually as I’m not a huge Pinterest person. I don’t take Pinterest worthy pictures and I don’t spend huge amounts of time on there because it’s just a black hole. However, I’ve been trying to dedicate a good 20-30 minutes a day where I follow a few of Nicola’s steps and I’ve seen quite an increase – not quite the huge success that she’s had, but an increase nonetheless!
I have been watching my two boys grow into each other’s company over the last couple of weeks and there have been some seriously heart melting moments. Toby is taking a keen interest in Teddy’s well being recently and will comfort him when nobody else can and he’ll say ‘I know Ted, I know’ all while giving him a kiss and a cuddle. This is not normal behaviour for either of these boys really as they usually either play independently or get into small scraps. I’m not saying they’re totally gone, obviously, but I can finally see their bond getting stronger and it is just beyond making my heart burst.
This week Jamie and I made the decision to invest in a new microwave – very exciting! It’s more like a time machine and is absolutely massive, but is so much better than the one we had.
We’ve also made some progress with the house hunt but I still don’t feel like we’ve gotten very far. There have been properties that are great ‘houses’ but need so much doing to them to make it our ‘home’. Some need extending, some need renovating and others just need to be knocked down and started again! Here’s to another week of hunting….
Mostly in the time since I last wrote the whole family has been wearing ski gear! However, I’m hoping the weather will start warming up soon because I am so bored of layering up, wearing big coats and just generally being freezing. Other than that I was recently at my Nan’s 70th birthday. I think it’s worth saying that every time I go to a family event or party I always feel like I’m either too dressed up, or not dressed up enough. This time I thought I would just dress right up, put some heels on and go for it. I even wore a bit of lippy. What do you think? My nan hated it!
I don’t know if you’ve heard what I’ve heard but Jamm Toys are giving you 10% off orders throughout March – eek! Just use code MARCH10
On a slightly more personal note, my husband said something to me the other day that took me by surprise. So you might have read that we couldn’t agree on a third baby. My husband and I were looking at Toby and Teddy the other day when they were in their element totally relaxing, chilled and looking all cute. Do you know what my husband said to me? “Do you think we should have another one? Shall we start trying now?”. Wait.. what?! It took me by surprise, but just in case you were in any doubt over whether we are trying for a third baby, Toby and Teddy started arguing and being gits five minutes later and we were brought back down to Earth with a thump. We are not trying for a third.
I really, really, really miss hot chocolate in the mountains but I just so love being at home. Don’t get me wrong I love travelling and especially being up in the mountains with all the fresh air but being at home is so much easier because, well.. it’s home. You have everything you need and the kids have everything they want. That’s not to say I’m not looking at another summer holiday this year for us and the boys. I’d love a week away in a cottage somewhere – probably just in the UK because if we struggle being away with them we can just drive home. Having said that, I am so craving the sunshine!
