I know that Living Arrows is meant to be a weekly reflection on how the boys are doing, if they’ve hit any milestones or learnt something new, or just a couple of pictures so I can look back and see how they’ve grown. But I honestly think that I change weekly as a parent too. It’s about me finding ways to tackle their behaviour, ways to conquer the ironing pile all while having a hot meal on the table at the end of the day or ways of just handling my patience – which I’m not all that great at – but it’s nice to remember the times that I took a deep breath and just dealt with parenting woes, and these posts help me do that! Anyway, I digress.
We spent the weekend at CBeebies Land and Splash Landings at Alton Towers and both Toby and Teddy seem to have had this growth spurt out of nowhere (thank goodness I’ve not yet bought Toby’s school uniform) and they both just seem so much more grown up. They’re carrying themselves differently, playing together like brothers do and I’ve just generally seen a difference. And these pictures totally confirm what I already know. These two are growing up. Fast.
Teddy took a bit of a bashing last week when he lost a fight with the corner of a table. We were waiting for an appointment with our solicitor when he and Toby were running around a sofa. Cue Teddy scuffing the side of the sofa with his hip, losing his footing and falling straight forward where he took a table corner between the eyes. Lots of blood, a trip to A&E (no we didn’t make the appointment with our solicitor) and a bit of glue later we were back home! However, he had perked up for his nursery taster session. I was a little apprehensive about how Teddy would be at nursery but I needn’t have been as he barely wanted to know me and was quite happy to join in with the other kids, make his own play and run around. I think the only trouble we’ll have with him in September is getting him to come home!
It’s now very much the start of the school holidays and there is so much we are going to be doing – moving house is one of them! It’s ‘Uncle Joshy’s’ birthday today and he’s coming over for tea tonight. The boys want to make him a cake and so that’s what we’ll be doing for the rest of the day. Oh, and lots of washing from the weekend!
