Since the Summer hasn’t really been the one we’d hoped for, I’ve been making a head start on the boys’ Autumn wardrobes! This is probably my favourite time of the year. I love it when the leaves start to fall off the trees, when comfy and layered clothing comes out so you can wrap up warm and the hint of Christmas is in the air. Having said that, our Autumns aren’t always that cold but that doesn’t mean you can get away without wearing a jumper.
Mamas and Papas aren’t somewhere that I’ve bought clothes from for the boys before, so when I was asked if I’d like to order some things for Autumn I was delighted!
Mamas and Papas Printed Joggers (12-18m)
Joggers are the ultimate Autumn piece of clothing for me! I absolutely adore being comfy around the house, but I don’t always like staying in my pyjamas and dressing gown. I also really love the boys being in joggers. These ones in particular are so loose and feel so comfy that I’m almost jealous I don’t own a pair myself.
However, they are absolutely huge! I know that Ted is relatively small for his age but personally these are so, so big for a size 12-18m, I actually had to check twice that I hadn’t ordered a size bigger. The waistband is elasticated which means the drawstring is just a bit of detail, so unfortunately I couldn’t tighten it, but the elastic isn’t that tight. Luckily, they do stay up with the help of his nappy, but they’re otherwise hanging off his waist.
I do love the simple print and they do go well with a nice, oversized or plain t-shirt just to emphasise the fact that you’re having a day in! The pocket detail on the front is really nice too and these are the first pair of joggers I’ve actually seen with extra detail on, other than the print itself and it’s fully functional too; cue Toby trying to stick his toy trains into Ted’s pocket! Perfect for all types of indoor play, and beyond perfect for Autumn.
Mamas and Papas Quilted Jumper (12-18m)
This is probably my favourite piece of clothing that I’ve ordered! I love a good jumper as much as the next person and, again, I’m jealous they don’t do this in my size. It reminds me of a jumper my Nan once had by the Sweater Shop (remember them?!) and it’s super soft and super lovely.
There are poppers on the neck to allow for easy fit, but I found I only had to pop the first one with Ted. And it looks amazing paired with the coat below. See..
This isn’t as big as the joggers and it’s much more true to size. The design on the front is simple but is really on trend for this Autumn and I love anything that’s a bit nature-esque or woodland/Native American inspired. The bear in the corner sets it off beautifully. I’d probably say that you need either nothing or a really light t-shirt underneath if they’re going to wear it because it’s pretty toasty on its own.
Mamas and Papas Cotton Canvas Twill Coat (12-18m)
I can not wait for Ted to wear this properly. It’s been a bit warm for him to wear it since we’ve had it (typical!) but imagine this layered over the quilted jumper above. Dreamy! This is my idea of the perfect colour coat for my two boys, especially for Autumn!
This is again true to size but still has plenty of room for Teddy to grow into which is perfect as I think we can expect some colder weather in the near future. The checkered print on the inside is equally as stylish and I love that you can see it when the hood is down. Despite the item being described as having a front zip opening, it doesn’t. It’s actually four buttons which I initially thought might just be an outer detail so that the zip would be hidden, but I was wrong. Great if you have a child who’ll sit still long enough for you to do up four buttons, not so great if you have a wriggler.
Mamas and Papas Octopus Print T-Shirt (12-18m)
This little t-shirt is beyond cute and the applique detail is just perfect. This fitted Ted really well and doubt it’s going to last him until he’s 18 months as it comes up quite small, so I would definitely order a bigger size. The whole feel is very nautical and is probably more of a Summer season top.
This short sleeved t-shirt has poppers at the back, rather than at the side to allow for an easy fit. The material is soft and flexible too. I paired this top with a rather daring pair of red shorts which matched the trim and they complemented each other really well.
All of the above clothes are washable at 40 degrees and are all really soft and flexible which means that they’re not restricting movements in anyway. After they’d been through the wash I was a little worried as they looked as though they’d shrunk, but after drying out and being ironed they were perfectly fine again. So far, all the clothes have kept their shape and I haven’t seen any signs yet of wear and tear. They’re really well made and I’m really hoping they last as they’re so lovely!
Price wise they’re no more, or less, expensive than something you could find on the high street and I think even if they do seem a bit pricey that they tend to wear and keep better than lots of the cheaper stuff. I love how these can also be for both boys and girls. I am a huge fan of unisex clothes and even those these were actually in the boys’ section, there’s no reason a girl couldn’t wear them as they’re all relatively neutral.
Have you checked out Mamas and Papas for your children’s Autumn wardrobe? If not, head over now and see what you can find. There are some super bargains on there right now!
