Review | MyFirst Green Toys

This is our first experience of Green Toys products, and while the toys were simple they were so effective. I was quite interested to get to know a little bit about the company as it’s not one I’d ever heard of before.

Green Toys are based in the USA and all of their toys are made from 100% recycled plastic. Despite them all being made from recycled goods, the quality is quite incredible. They are so well constructed, sturdy and robust – especially when you’ve got a two year old who likes to bash them into the kitchen kick boards.

When I first received these toys, I loved the packaging. The packaging was all recycled paper but had a really up to date and cool look about them. The Dumper toy we received is part of a construction fleet. It’s a classic dump truck design with an open-box bed and is perfect for playing indoors and outdoors; sand, water, carpet, grass. It’s completely transportable wherever they want to take it and play with it.

The toy is relatively small, but perfect for those smaller hands and it’s nice and chunky with no fiddly little bits. It comes with its own bulldog construction worker and the figures in the fleet are interchangeable. It’s great for individual play, sharing and swapping. You do have to be careful though as the bulldog just sits on a raised bump and doesn’t click or lock into place. If you’re taking it into a big outdoor space, such as the beach, he could easily come out and be lost.

However, I do wish the colours were a bit more vibrant. They are quite ‘bland’, apart from the bulldog which is blue, so he does stand out a bit. But given that these toys are ‘green’, I definitely don’t mind.

I’d love to see this range expand into other construction/transport toys.

The second toy we had was for those teething babes; the ‘Twist Teether’. It’s a really lightweight teether that Ted has been shaking and rattling and he can’t get enough of the noise it makes. The charms on the twist are all uniquely shaped and offer visual stimulation as well as different textures for baby to feel.

One super duper feature of both of these toys is that they’re dishwasher safe! I don’t know of any other toys that you can stick in the dishwasher after a day at the beach, or from being out in the garden.

We’ll be looking at purchasing some more Green Toys as I think these are totally fab!
