For me, even though all I’ve known is boys, the thought of buying clothes for them fills me with dread. I can never find what I’m really looking for and often think ranges lack variety and colour, especially in Summer. However, with Autumn coming up I’m really looking forward to making the most of burnt oranges, khakis browns and canvas colours. I love taking inspiration from the colours of the season and implementing them into the boys’ wardrobes.
Roco Clothing stock a relatively small range of casual boys clothing and I thought getting some bits from there would definitely make a good start for the colder weather!
Chunky Green Minoti Jumper
This is my number one piece from their casual clothing collection. I love everything about this jumper. It’s everything an Autumn piece should be; chunky, thick, comfortable and oh so stylish!
I can’t wait to layer this up under a coat or with a t-shirt underneath. It’s such a simple design, but just radiates tradition – it’s definitely something I could see Prince George in. It’s 100% cotton, really soft and flexible and fits Toby well. I got it in age 3-4 just so it has that little extra room for a t-shirt underneath. I didn’t want it to be too tight for when he wears it!
Minoti Orange Checkered Shirt
I’m always a bit dubious about buying anything too orange as the boys have a slightly red tinge to their hair and I’m conscious it might look a bit silly. However, this checkered shirt is quite a dark orange, burnt if you will, and suits his hair colour perfectly.
It’s quite a bold print and so won’t be for everybody, but paired with some darker chinos and brown boots this will be perfect. It’s perfect for either casual wear, or an occasion such as a birthday party but either way this is really on trend for Autumn. Love, love, love!
Striped Minoti Shorts
Ok, so not technically an Autumn piece but we all know the UK is partial to the odd warm day at the end of the year and I thought these shorts would be perfect. The picture online makes the shorts look a little darker than they actually are though.
They’re not overly light, or heavy or thick, they’re literally just perfect for a warm Autumn day. I like the cuffed leg and for some reason I always end up getting the boys these types of bottoms, it’s not intentional though, maybe I’m just drawn to them. There are pockets at the front, but only slit details on the behind – Toby is particularly partial to a pocket, often found stuffing a train in them, or walking around with his hand in his “pock”.
Soul & Glory Maroon Chinos
I love Toby and Ted in chinos. They’re so easy to smart up with a nice shirt, or to wear casually with a cool t-shirt, either way, I love them and in all kinds of colours. These maroon chinos will perfectly replace the pair Toby has just outgrown. Admittedly they’re a little longer in the leg than I’d hoped, but they are aged 3-4 so he’ll be able to grow into them just fine.
I’m not really sure if they’re supposed to be faded around the waistline and down the outer of the leg or not, but there are seamed notches down the leg to add texture. They’re a standard slim fit, which is perfect although I do sometimes find if they’re too small at the bottom it’s a pain to get their feet in.
There are lots of small details on these chinos which you may not notice; the buttons are marbled and there are faux leather trims behind the waist and in front of the pocket. They’re already cuffed around the bottom (oops, there I go again!) but I like this detail and it means they can be unrolled to be made longer.
Have you started your Autumn wardrobe yet? What would you pick from their collection?
