Wonderful Weaning | For Aisha Stage Three

When I was weaning Teddy I remember writing about For Aisha and how I loved them for their flavour combinations. At the end of that review I said that ‘I really hope for the For Aisha range to expand’… and guess what? It has.

For those of you who haven’t read that review or want a little bit of background on For Aisha, they’re the leading UK Halal baby food company and they’ve just rebranded their range of stage 3 baby food while launching an addition to the range. They’ve rebranded because they really feel like weaning and tasting should be a story and an adventurous one at that. The improved packaging and design really showcases the brand’s warm and friendly credentials and adventurous vision, especially when it comes to their choice of flavours.

The recipes have been created in consultation with a Belgian/Moroccan chef and they love to incorporate spices, herbs and exotic ingredients which we may not think of using when we’re weaning. I think we tend to play it quite safe and offer plain-ish foods with optional sauces on the side and very occasionally offer something like curry or a stew where all the food is encased in this beautiful tasting sauce.

For Aisha really want to tap into those more complex flavours to help develop taste preferences and the want to try new things. We all know that as kids get older they eat with their eyes, even I still do it to this day with some things (oysters, bleugh!), but it’s about providing for a growing mind and set of taste buds where these products really come into their own.

The new stage 3 dishes will be chunkier in texture as opposed to being in puree form and the new tray design means it will allow you to roll with your method of feeding whether that’s by spoon, whether it’s baby led or a combination of both. The packaging will also be delivering interesting facts about the ‘For Aisha’ brand, their recipes and the places from which they originate. The illustrations are simply stunning and really do convey the quality and goodness inside these new meals. Lots of parents look for premium ingredients and ‘For Aisha’ really does have that all while labelling to show positive health messages and the benefits of the ingredients being used.

As I said above, all meat used within the ‘For Aisha’ range is finest certified British halal and the range is crammed full of nutritional benefits. It includes a chicken and sweet potato curry (winner of the 2016 Grocer NPD award), chicken quinoa and vegetable stew, a green bean and lamb curry and finally a date and apricot tagine with lamb. The tagine has dates in it which are a new ingredient in the baby category, yummy!

The stage 3 trays are aimed at little ones who are 10 months or older, although my little ones would’ve had these from around 8 months at the rate they weaned! All the ingredients are natural and there are no colours, artificial flavours or preservatives which is basically as good as home made. A registered dietitian has tested them for quality and nutrition and one of the best bits is that these meals are dairy, soya, nut and gluten free so if any of you have eliminated those from your own diets, or your little one is intolerant they’ll still be able to eat these meals!

‘For Aisha’ really do strive to cater for anyone and everyone and I’m so sad that our weaning journey is over because I know Ted would have loved these. As it happens we make these combinations at home anyway and they’ve inspired me to get cooking them again just so that I can serve them up – Toby will probably stick with waffles knowing him! But if you’re weaning and need convenient food that’s delicious and trusted and will give your baby a little taste of the world, then For Aisha have you covered!
