Blog | We’re Konfidence Swimology Ambassadors 2017

I can finally breathe a little sigh of relief because it’s no longer a secret! I am utterly delighted that Toby, Teddy and I have been chosen to be ambassadors for Konfidence this year alongside four other incredible bloggers. We are officially ‘Swimologists’ with a badge to prove it, hurray!

Swimming is something that both us and the boys are very passionate about and we can’t wait to take you on some swimming journeys with us. Fundamentally, learning to swim is a key life skill and a potentially life saving one at that. It’s not just about being able to do the forward crawl in a supervised pool. By getting children into swimming at a young age we can instil a confidence in the water and teach them how to swim safely but also to enjoy the freedom of playing in water wherever they may go. Konfidence products only enhance all of these attributes and I can’t wait to show you how Konfidence products have really enhanced the boy’s swimming journey so far.

I remember when I had my first ever swimming lesson. I was in year 5 or 6 at primary school and, in order to sort us into groups of ability, we were asked to get from one end of the ‘baby’ pool to the other. It was a swim of less than 10 metres and I couldn’t do it. Most of my class laughed at me because some of them were in the local swim team, others had the privilege of a private pool and some had just learned from a very young age. There were only 3 people in the lowest group and I was one of them. I couldn’t have been more mortified.

From that moment on I was determined to not only learn to swim, but to swim well. Every lesson I was focused and I made such incredible progress that by the time we had gotten to the end of the swimming term I was swimming lengths of the ‘big’ pool, did some swimming rescue training and jumped in, and touched the bottom, of the deep end. So I knew when I had kids that swimming was something I wanted them to do.

Both Toby and Teddy have had swimming lessons with Teddy still attending every Friday and we like to try and take them during the half terms too. Even if it’s just splashing around for half an hour it’s great to allow them the freedom to explore the water because it makes them comfortable with it.
