Review | Asda Little Angels Nappies

I was recently contacted to see if I’d like to give Asda’s Little Angels nappy range a go. With one 11 month old still very much in nappies and one who is showing increasing interest in the potty I’ll be reviewing two sizes; the size 4 supreme protection and the size 6, which are toddler’s “first pants”.

Little Angels Size 4 Supreme Protection

I really like these nappies and I think they genuinely rival my ultimate baby nappy – Aldi Mamia. The first reason is that they fit well. Lots of nappies I’ve tried are comfortable but they’re either too tight somewhere or they just don’t fit well all round!

Little Angels were really flexible around the leg and they were super soft too. I couldn’t feel one rough area on the back of my hand and Ted seemed to get on well with them. They’re really absorbent, seeing Ted through the night, although by the morning they did need changing pretty quickly. They don’t pull all the wetness away from the skin but we’ve not had any rashes or reactions so far which is great.

When I first got them out of the packet, I was a little concerned because they felt a little thin, but by no means do they work any less well than some of the thicker padded nappies. I like that they’re purple and pretty plain – I don’t get why babies nappies have to be full of fancy prints, they ultimately get thrown away (I know cloth bum mums love a good print, but I never got on well with them).

I found that the tabs were really stretchy and allowed for babies who were probably a little chubbier around the belly, which is one of the downfalls of the Mamia nappies. The back of them is also elastic and we haven’t experienced any leakages yet! I think just having that little extra flexibility in the nappy stops the contents squashing up. Little Angels nappies are great value, and often you’ll find them on offer at 3 for £10, although individually they’re around £3.75 – this is for a pack of 40. Pretty good hey? It helps that Asda is our closest super market too!

I’m not sure they’d be my first choice over the ones we currently use, but they are absolutely rivalling them.

Little Angels First Pants Size 6

Toby has been showing signs of wanting to potty train recently so these couldn’t have come at a better time. Getting him used to being in some kind of pants is key for us as he really hates lying down to have his bottom changed. He kicks and thrashes out so for him to be able to step into something is much better for everyone involved!

I’ve got to admit I’m not totally crazy about these, and for a couple of reasons. One is the Peppa Pig design; yes we do watch it, and we can make connections with it but ultimately there will be parents whose children don’t watch it, or hate it even. It would be nice to have a couple of designs to choose from, or one that’s a bit more generic because I feel this could definitely put people off.

Secondly, there’s no way to wrap or seal it if Toby’s gone for a number two. They split down the side and you have to put it in a nappy bag, which is great if you’ve got them handy – not so great if you haven’t.

The Little Angels first pants are good throughout the day and night are have good absorbency – we’ve not had any leaks with these either! They’re super stretchy and flexible and Toby is comfortable in them while he’s running around like a loon. They come in packs of 26 and these are also £3.75 for an individual pack, or you can buy 3 packs for £10.

Overall both packs are great value for money, both rival my idea of the perfect nappy and they basically do the job without any interference. I can’t fault them other than the design, but I know that’s not the be all and end all of whether a nappy works.
