Since Bonfire Night ended I have been desperate to decorate my house. I know the tree will have to wait to be put up just a little while longer, but there’s nothing wrong with bringing out all the other decorations right? I think my problem, this year especially, is that Toby has realised who Father Christmas is and Ted, despite being just 2 and a half, also knows who he is and they’re both just ‘getting’ the magic. I think that they are going to be so excited this year and it will be the first year we’ve ever spent Christmas Day in our own home.
I want to decorate our fireplace, have a couple of trees and just get all the other decs and trimmings dotted about the house. I think I even want tinsel on the staircase despite telling Jamie a couple of years ago that we are absolutely not having tinsel anywhere! I’ve just had this huge change of heart and so I’m not even ashamed to say that today (yes, I held out until today!) that I have three new Christmas decorations on display.
These are all from Melody Maison who just have the most gorgeous Christmas bits as well as some seriously stunning homeware.
Wooden ‘XMAS’ Freestanding Sign
This cute little freestanding sign is perfect for any room of the house. I’d quite like to put it in our hallway as it’s rather inviting, although I haven’t put it up yet! I love the colours in this one, they’re gorgeously subtle and festive.
Oh, and you could even pop a Christmas card or two in here like a letter holder if you needed to! That way you won’t forget to post them on your way out.
Melody Maison Small Wooden Christmas Sleigh
I really wanted this because I think it’s such a versatile decoration. You can light it up, sit presents on it or include it as part of a Christmas scene. It’s really light, but it’s still sturdy, so will still hold a good weight. It’s quite nordic in design with the light and distressed wood effect and I think it’s the perfect addition to any house over Christmas. I’ve styled it with a few baubles for now but will probably have to change it when the kids get hold of it!
Whether this sits on your shelf, near your fireplace or under the Christmas tree this year, make sure to get one! There’s also a larger version which I’m tempted to get to have a staggered Christmas scene.
Set Of 3 Small Wooden Light Up Christmas Houses
I recently spotted these in a local garden centre and both Jamie and I said we had to get some. These are three small, wooden light up houses with Christmas characters on the front. They are super light and fragile so you really do need to be careful.
The batteries are a bit of a faff to get in but once you’ve done one and you’ve got your technique right, it’s easy! I’ve got these sat on my shelf at the moment but I think I want a couple of bigger ones to either go on the end, or go in-between as they are just so pretty and cosy.
These would also look gorgeous sat on fake snow with a garland and a few lights behind them. They’re super Christmassy and super cute!
