Project 365 – Week 12

We started this week with a 5.40am wake up call! Not impressed to say the least, it’s exactly what I don’t need. I can’t actually remember the last full night of sleep I got, uninterrupted with waking up at a relatively decent hour. I wouldn’t mind getting up at 6.30am if it meant I’d been asleep all night without having to get up at least once, even better if we can eke it out until 7am. It’s really hard at the minute because Toby used to be such a good sleeper. He’d go down at 7pm and sleep way past 7am most mornings. I’m struggling with the lack of sleep the further I get into my pregnancy.

The first order of Monday was a pre-school viewing for Toby. He won’t go until he’s around 2.5yrs but we need to start getting applications and names down now. It was a bit of a pain because, unless there are spaces available in the term following him turning 2.5, they won’t then take him until the September! The second order was a good hair cut. It’s a lot shorter than I actually wanted it, but because it grows so quickly it doesn’t matter too much. He just looks so much like his daddy did at his age.

Because I had Tuesday and Wednesday off this week, I made the most of it. Tuesday morning Toby stayed with me until we had to go to Toddler Sense at 10am. It’s not something I’ve ever seen him go to as it’s usually his thing with Nanny. She came along too and I got to see what they get up to in the sessions. She then took him off of my hands for the rest of the day. Jamie and I made the most of it before he had to go to work and treated ourselves to lunch in a local restaurant called Market Bistro that we don’t often get to go to anymore – we’ll probably be going even less when the second baby gets here.

Wednesday morning Jamie and I took Toby to Farmer Freds for a run around before he went to Nanny’s for the afternoon, I’d usually be at work and Jamie has work too. I spent the afternoon food shopping because I am SO rock and roll like that, and picked up a couple of orders that I’d placed – namely Toby’s new bedding and quilt cover! I was so excited to get it on his bed, although he fell asleep on top of it, rather than in it!

Unfortunately, the sick bug hit our house in the early hours of Thursday morning. Toby had been sick all over his brand new, freshly washed bedding. He was sick after I stripped his bed off, and was then sick in our bed too! He ended up in bed with us for the rest of the night. It’s the first time in 19 months he’s had a proper illness, and the first time he’s ever slept in mummy and daddy’s bed! Being sick really frightened him and he had no idea what was going on. So much so that when it was happening he kept trying to crawl on to me. Needless to say I ended up with quite a bit of sick on me and I needed a good shower in the morning.

We had a lazy day at home on Friday and it appears the sick bug is spreading because Jamie started getting poorly too, thankfully after we managed to get the cot bed up! Although Toby seemed a bit better, he still wasn’t himself and I was in two minds about whether to take him to Water Babies or not. I decided that if he really didn’t want to do it, we could get out of the pool and go home. He managed it but was quite clingy!

We also picked up the chest of drawers on Saturday and we’re really disappointed with them. There are balls of hair in the drawers, and they smell of stale smoke (negative feedback coming right his way). Not forgetting the back of the drawers is bent inwards. I’m pretty sure the drawers are wonky too. We were all meant to be attend a fancy dress party Saturday night for one of Jamie’s relatives, but I’m the only one who wentΒ – as a 31 week pregnant looking Madonna no less. It was a last minute costume because we had agreed earlier in the week when Toby was poorly, and our babysitter was taken ill, that we wouldn’t go. But here I am, with Princess Leia (aka my mum in law) – can you believe this is the first picture we’ve ever had taken together of just us 2?

I did manage to get at least one lie in this week on Sunday of all days! Toby woke once briefly early on in the night but was straight back to sleep and didn’t wake up until 8.40 – and we didn’t get out of bed until after 9am! Miracles do happen after all..

  • I got a full 8 hours of sleep for the first time in over two years last night. I’ve got a two year old and a 9 month old. They both slept round the clock. When I woke up in the morning at 8.20 my first thought was, are they still alive?! Why is it so quiet?
Hope you all get well soon. x

    • Ooh you lucky thing! I always think something is wrong if we’re awake before he is haha. Glad to know I’m not alone! Thank you, off to the doctors tomorrow I think! x

  • This is such a nice idea – like a diary for you to keep! I’m terrified about getting JB’s hair cut for the first time… I don’t want him to lose those curls! K x

    • Lots of people do it, why not join in? It’s such a good way of, like you say, keeping a diary.. I hated getting Toby’s done but it just grows so quickly, plus it’s really thick! I hate having to do it πŸ™ x
