It’s been quite a busy week really, with plenty of relaxing gaps though.
There’s no better way to start the week than with an appointment with your midwife. Am I the only really sad person who really looks forward to these kinds of appointments? I genuinely don’t mind going to the doctor, dentist, midwife or hospital whereas I know people who loathe it. Anyway, I digress. It was good news after the worrisome couple of weeks we’d had previouls.y A big well done to my uterus which is back on track growth wise – a whole 34cms thank you very much. A 4cm improvement in 2 weeks brings us back up to just about where we should be. Although I still had concerns about the baby’s growth because, of course, it doesn’t measure the baby.
On Tuesday, Jamie and I took Toby to his usual Toddler Sense class as Nanny was away on holiday – and he absolutely loved it. This week it was a ‘lagoon’ theme, so there were beach balls, blow up crocs, sharks and fish and some sensory play with ‘Gelli Baff’. Toby wasn’t completely sure of it – he seems to be a bit weird with how things feel. He won’t even pick up a segment of orange (mmm, now I really want a chocolate orange) without pulling a face. It’s annoying because it then means he won’t put it to his mouth to taste it. However, he did have a little play with it before deciding he’d rather go back in the other room and play with all the beach balls.
My second super exciting appointment this week was at the hospital. It was time for the next growth scan followed by an appointment with the consultant. And the verdict is… he’s GROWN! Hurray! He’s still only on the 5th centile, but he’s at least gone made progress upwards. The consultant was really happy with the fluid levels, blood flow, movement and growth so this means I can cook him for another couple of weeks before another scan! And then.. I’ll be 37+4 – HOLY ….
The rest of the week was more or less filled with really boring exciting adult stuff. You know, food shopping and a bit of washing here and there. We did have Water Babies on Friday though and Toby’s confidence in the water is soaring. It’s our last one next week at the current pool as we’ve had to change his classes as I’ll no longer be able to do them and Jamie’s going to take over. I think it’ll help them bond more – it can be Daddy and Toby’s Saturday morning ‘thing’, and it means Toby still gets to do something regularly every week and he loves being in the water.
Saturday was spent peeking into the junk room debating whether I should just clean it or not. I finally decided the door has been being shut on it for too long so in I went, and out I came with two bin bags full of rubbish, 3 carrier bags full of clothes and a much tidier looking room – yes, I can now see the floor! On Saturday afternoon we went to see Nanny and Pop, and then watched uncle Joshy play some cricket. Toby really enjoyed trying to run onto the pitch while the game was in play! We had a lazy tea – takeaway Nandos. Super duper yummy!
Jamie was up and about early on Sunday morning as he was doing our local run with the kids he coaches. It was absolutely pouring with rain and he came home soaked. Toby and I stayed in our pyjamas until quite late and it was lovely. We eventually got dressed and took Toby to see Nanny again though!
Here’s what we got up to last week.. and hopefully I might have something a bit more exciting next week.

Well, first off congratulations to youe uterus! Glad to hear yor pregnancy seems ot be progressing well. As for Staurday swimming being a dad thing, I’m always amazed at the number of dads at the pool with their kids. It’s almost a rite of passage I think!
Thank you! Let’s hope it keeps it up. Jamie would love to do the Friday afternoon classes we do but he works so that’s why we’ve changed. It’s definitely a ‘dad’s rite of passage’ – totally agree!
