This week started off with a catch up with a friend at Brewers Fayre. It’s easily accessible, a free soft play area and you can just sit there and have a conversation without worrying about the kids, so it’s one of the better places to go where we live! Toby absolutely loves being able to run riot and climb on everything without me running behind him all the time, and the toddler’s area is enclosed so there’s no escape (until he learns to climb over, which he’s not far off doing). I think his favourite bit of the play area is the stairs. He loves stairs, climbing up them but more climbing down them! My friend caught this cheeky little picture of him while we were there. It also reminds me just how much he’s growing up!
I also took my first bath in ages! I don’t normally have baths because they have to be piping hot and sometimes I get agitated just sitting there. I definitely prefer showers, especially since I have such thick hair, I can never seem to wash everything out of my hair properly in the bath. It was really nice to have a little lay back though and just watch bump having a good time. He is moving so much more and it brings all memories flooding back, I’m beginning to get really excited!
My week was almost entirely spent cleaning and unpacking. Since our kitchen is now finished and the dust has settled, in more ways than one, we were able to move back in! However, before we could resume normal life we needed our living room back, and that needed cleaning literally ceiling to floor, it was absolutely unbelievable. FOUR whole hours later… yes four hours.. it was finally clean. Everything had to be moved and lifted and taken off so we could get all the dust out. I’ve never seen so much dust come out of one room. But I was SO pleased with it because it was uber clean.. and I like clean!
As we can’t yet decide on a furniture set for our kitchen, we got a table and 4 chairs (shabby chic style) from Facebook for £90 just as an in-between until we find something we like. The only problem is, now Toby is climbing on everything, this is one more thing we have to keep an eye on. He looks pretty pleased with himself, and the picture just shows we haven’t done our garden for ages.. roll on better weather!
We had Water Babies again, the last one of the term! We’ve renewed for another term, but I’m quite pleased to get a little break. It’s hard work taking an almost 18 month old swimming and then having to sort yourself and them out before they get cold, and without them running off, or pulling something out of your dry bag onto the massively wet floor! Not forgetting the battle of trying to get a changing room with the facilities for a child.
It was Valentine’s day this week, but we don’t really acknowledge it. I might sound like an old cynic but I genuinely don’t need one day of the year to let my other half know I love him. We certainly don’t need any extra clutter of teddies and our cupboards don’t really need to see any more chocolate! I do like flowers though… hehe.
We had a lovely Sunday with us going to Church Farm. A lot of my friends have taken their children here already but we’d never been. It’s only around 15-20 minutes outside of where we live and we’d been invited to spend the day with some friends and their 3 children for their youngest’s birthday. I didn’t think Toby would have been that interested but he was into everything. He loved seeing the animals and even let the piglets have a sniff and a nibble around his shoes, with no tears! We saw all the animals you’d usually see on a farm, and we even got to see the baby lambs being fed. They’ve got a huge outdoor area with sunk in trampolines and really cool assault courses, which we all had a go on – we’re all big kids really! Don’t say you wouldn’t.
My Sunday evening was spent watching the very anticipated Fifty Shades of Grey! I went with my aunties and a few of her friends (there were about 18 of us in total!) and had such a giggle. We then went to Pizza Express for a meal, which was just as well because I was absolutely starving. A great end to the week I’d say, ready for Monday morning!
Toby was more than ready for bed by the end of this week, it was a busy one!
