Review | Because I Love Wax Melts

I don’t know about you, but I love walking through the front door and being hit by the smell of something nice. Either a nice stew that’s been in the slow cooker all day, a plug in air freshener, an oil burner or some wax melts on the go. It’s certainly better than the smell of a dirty nappy, or the fish you cooked for tea last night.

I could smell just how amazing these wax melts would be before I even opened the box. Because I love.. Scented Wax Melts are British, handmade and hand poured. These eco-soya melts are made from a sustainable source, look like cute little cupcakes and come in 3 different fragrance intensities; highly scented, paraben free and aromatherapy.

I was lucky enough to be sent 5 wax melts, an oil burner and 4 tealights to review and see what I thought. I can honestly say they made my house smell like heaven. I’m usually a fragranced candle kind of girl, especially in the living room, but I decided to give this a go, especially as I’d never used one before.

I won’t teach you to suck eggs as it’s the same way any oil/wax burner works so of course it’s really easy to use. The smells last so much longer than my candles and while the fragrances are obvious, they are very subtle so they won’t give you a massive headache like some do. If you fancy a change of smell, they’re brilliantly easy to change. You can just pop it in the freezer, burner and all, for 15 minutes, and it will literally just lift away from the burner, allowing you to store it back in the plastic bags (zip-loc and also recyclable). You obviously need to wait for the burner to come back up to room temperature before you can use it again though.

I was sent a cow print burner along with ‘Baby Powder’, ‘Perfect Violets’, ‘Silver Lining’, ‘Bathtime Bubbles’ and ‘Moonlit Path’ fragrances, and I would highly recommend all of them. In fact, they’re so lovely, they were featured in Cosmopolitan’s Summer special! Personally, I wouldn’t have chosen the ‘Perfect Violets’ one, purely because it makes me think of the Parma Violet sweets and I just don’t like them.

I found it so relaxing, especially in the evening when you’re winding down to bed, to have the oil burner on. It made it cosy without it being too stuffy. I’m genuinely looking forward to having this on the go when the baby is here, even if it’s just to sit in the room quietly so I can relax. Admittedly, I’m a little bit obsessed with it at the moment and keep swapping the melts around. If you don’t have one, I would honestly encourage you to get one. They’re super efficient at making your home smell delicious!
