Review | Fisher Price Zebra Walker

This very cute Fisher Price Zebra Walker has been quite a hit with the boys, although I’m not that convinced about it. Upon getting it out of the box, the instructions were really easy to follow and the assembly went without a hitch, which was a great start.

Once it was all together, both Toby and Teddy wanted to play with it but since Ted is the one learning to walk, he obviously had first dibs. I was a bit disappointed with the weight of the Fisher Prize Zebra Walker if I’m being totally honest. As soon as Ted tried to pull himself up on to the walker, it went backwards, which I was not expecting. We do have another brand of walker which I think is heavier and much sturdier and works a lot better than this one. Whether it’s down to the weight of the walker, or the position of the handle (it’s about mid range, rather than higher to allow for some weight bearing), this is definitely a feature that could be improved.

The design is great if you’re really into the whole safari animal thing because it’s a Zebra. However, I though the actual Zebra part of the baby walker was quite basic. I don’t think it’s as colourful or as interactive as it could be and I thought the Zebra’s head could’ve had more on there, as it seemed a bit of a waste of space.

However, I do love that the voice that speaks is very bright and upbeat, which was really engaging for both Toby and Teddy, and it also meant we could sit round it, clap and sing our ABCs together.

Once Ted was behind the walker safely and he was pushing it along, the wheels were really easy on lots of surfaces, from laminate to carpet which Ted was pleased about as it meant he didn’t have to make too much of an effort.

This Fisher Price Baby Walker appeals to a huge age range. Ted is 11 months, and Toby is over 2.5yrs and it’s so nice to see that both boys are still very much interested in it. Toby loves to race around with it and watch the wheels go round, and Ted loves hitting it wondering what noise will come out next. It’s definitely value for money if you’re looking at something the kids will enjoy from sitting up to toddling.

Despite my thoughts on it being quite basic, it does have an upside. It’s easy to clean. There aren’t lots of fiddly bits that trap dirt and dust and biscuit, apparently. I really love this about kids’ toys because somehow they all just get so filthy! I love being able to run a baby wipe over this without a second thought.

The base of the toy is pretty wide, so it’s not that great for space saving, but you can place things underneath which can work out just as handy.

If I’m being honest, I think there are better walkers out there and I probably wouldn’t choose to purchase this one, even though it’s a nice design with the Zebra. The boys don’t seem to mind it though!
