Let me start by saying that I am, by absolutely no means, a fashionista of any kind. I’m very much a ‘throw on what’s clean and looks presentable’ kind of person and I have the kids to blame for that! Who has time to plan their outfits? That’s not to say that I don’t necessarily take pride in my appearance and what I wear but I admit that I’m not ‘down with the kids’ or what I would consider ‘fashionable’.
Sometimes it kind of annoys me that I’m rubbish at throwing things together and looking lovely but then I don’t have anyone to please other than myself. I mean, if I haven’t figured it out in 28 years, I’m probably not going to figure it out in the next 28 so I’m comfortable in my fashion choices.
However, I was recently contacted by LOTD (Look of the Day) who sell a range of clothes that work for you; whether it’s a Saturday night look, the 9-5 at work or even the 6am-11pm parenting kind of day! As some of you may know, I am well into the first trimester of my third pregnancy and I knew this when I ordered with them! I based quite a few of my choices on what I thought might be able to grow with me in the beginning of my pregnancy but also things that would keep me looking ‘fresh’.
LOTD – The Tops & Tees
I’m not sure if you’ve noticed by slogan tees have absolutely taken the fashion world by storm and, thanks to LOTD, I now have a few of my own in the wardrobe. You can dress them up or down, with jeans or a skirt for any time of the day or night. I don’t know whether my decisions on a couple of the tees are subconscious choices based on the potential gender of our next baby but we won’t know that for a few more weeks yet!
Girls, Girls, Girls
Perhaps a subconscious decision based on this third little one cooking away, or perhaps I just loved the look of it (probably the latter as I hope I’m not expecting triplets!). It’s retro, savvy and cool all rolled into one. The sizing is spot on and it’s so, so comfortable. The quality is much better than I had expected too. It washes well, irons well and wears well. I love wearing this with ankle grazer jeans, pumps and a jacket.
A little bit of glitter never hurt anyone, right? Especially when it doesn’t fall off as soon as you touch it. I love this t-shirt tucked into a leather skirt, worn with heeled ankle boots. Again, it’s a perfect fit and feels great on!
I was really hoping this wouldn’t be that clingy jersey material but it is! However, it’s not as clingy as I first thought (phew!) and actually sits really nicely. This is probably slightly bigger than I would have gone for but I actually like that it’s a bit oversized for me just because of the material. Oh, and it’ll probably stretch well over a little baby bump, right?
Berry Fleece Sweat Top
When this arrived it looked really lovely with the high, rounded neck and the cross back but I wasn’t a huge fan when I got it on. It just didn’t sit very well on me and the cross back was quite high up, rather than lower down as the picture suggests. Having said that, it’s super fleecy inside and super snuggly and warm but I did need to wear a thin top underneath otherwise it was a bit breezy! Perfect as loungewear over something I’d wear out.
Frill Knitted Jumper
The colour of this jumper pleases me so much. I adore mustard/yellow, especially in the Autumn and Spring and it’s a great transitional colour that works with pretty much every skin tone. I’ve been wearing this with black jeans and Ugg boots on those days where I just need a bit of comfort.
The frills around the cuff and bottom of the jumper really set this off and they’re not too overbearing either! However, due to the nature of the knit, you will need to watch out for things catching and pulling.
LOTD – The Dresses
Black Wrap Front Skater
I absolutely loved the look of this, not only for a plain black piece, but it looked perfect to team up with tights in the winter! And, since we have another baby on the way, it appeared ideal for breastfeeding and I wasn’t wrong. Often times maternity wear can be so expensive just because it’s labelled as such but this is easy to slip to the side and looks great on.
I like putting a belt on plain pieces just to break it up a bit, but also because I think it can help make things look more flattering on you. This is an absolute investment and at a bargain price!
Black Metallic Belted Midi
I haven’t had a chance to wear this out yet but it looks, and feels, great on! I was worried this wouldn’t look particularly flattering on me, but this is the ideal piece to wear with any kind of shoe; pumps, heels, flip flops, the choice really is yours. It’s a super versatile dress and I love the vertical stripe on this.
LOTD – The Outerwear
Denim Jacket, Borg Collar
This was actually a bit of an impulse selection. It’s not something I would usually go for off the rail but I decided that there’s no better time to try something a little different. I don’t know if it suits me or not, I always think other people look better in things than I do, so I’m weary about how I style it and if I can even pull it off. I don’t think I’ve worn denim on my top half since I was about 11 or 12! It was very much all the rage back then but I couldn’t afford it so wore my auntie’s size 12 denim jacket and it absolutely drowned me.
Now I have my own and the trim is so gorgeous. This is perfect for throwing on when you need to do a quick shop, nip out somewhere or you’ve got to do the school run.
Mustard Hooded Toggle Jacket
I love this! Having seen similar coats, I’d always wanted just a light rain jacket to throw on when it’s a bit warmer. I’ve only managed to wear this once just because the weather has been so horrendous but I love it. Yellow is basically the staple colour for lots of bloggers and it just brightens your day, doesn’t it? The toggles are super easy and the material is so light. An absolute steal for the price and it’s waterproof too.
LOTD have such an incredible range of womenswear and, quite honestly, I can’t wait to treat myself again! I’m looking forward to their Summer wardrobe!
