To me, Wykes Farm has always been at the more luxury end of food shopping, and so I don’t usually buy it. However, I was recently sent their new salted and unsalted butters to see what I thought of them. We usually buy a supermarket’s own brand, purely because I’ve never been a luxury shopper unless it’s Christmas, and I’m on a bit of a health kick ahead of the wedding, so I’ve kind of knocked butter on the head, and at the moment it just ends up sitting in the fridge. For ages. However, upon a little more research, it’s not that more expensive than the one we buy now and it’s totally within our budget.

So, with that in mind, I made a point of seeing what this was like a few different ways and I just made sure I didn’t spread it in inch thick on anything!
Wykes Farm Butter (Salted)
So my favourite breakfast when I was younger was crumpets. They had to be the juiciest most buttered up crumpets you can imagine.. and then some! I couldn’t remember the last time I’d had crumpets so I thought I’d buy some and see what they were like with Wykes Farm Salted Butter. I always opt for salted butter on things like crumpets and toast, just because it makes it the most divine thing you’ve ever eaten, certainly the best thing you’d have eaten that morning anyway.

It didn’t disappoint. It was heavenly; creamy and buttery (yes, really I said it!) and it was just yummy. Personally, for me, it was just a tad too salty, but it wasn’t overpowering. It’s hard to say something like that because obviously everyone has their preferences.
Considering it’d been in the fridge for a couple of days it managed to spread pretty evenly. It was lovely on some plain crackers too! The only thing missing was the cheese.. and wine.
Wykes Farm Butter (Unsalted)
Unsalted butter is great for cakes, biscuits and scones. It’s mostly used in baking because it allows you to have control over how much salt is added into your recipe. And you know what I made with them? White chocolate buttercream butterfly cakes! And do you know what else? We ate them all so quickly, so you may have to do with this amazing sourced image of cakes!

What I can tell you is that I really loved this butter, especially for the buttercream. I usually find that other butters take a lot of whipping around before getting anywhere with them, but this one was so easy and gave in pretty quickly.

After adding the icing sugar, and the white chocolate, it was just melt in the mouth beautiful and I think I’d probably consider using Wyke Farms butter next time I do a batch of baking.
