Review | Gro-snug From Gro Company

Swaddling is an age old practice, but one that many of us struggle with. I’ve watched an abundance of ‘how to swaddle’ videos, followed the instructions and copied friends but still, within the space of a few minutes, both of my boys managed to wriggle their way out of my packaging them up – typical! Toby just generally never enjoyed being restricted but Ted has been slightly more receptive, although still wants to kick his legs out.

So when asked if we’d like to try the new Gro-snug, I jumped at the chance. An avid Gro Company fan, we already use lots of their products, including the Gro Egg and Gro Anywhere Blind. We also used their Gro Bags when Toby first went into his cot.

This is just as simple as a Gro Bag, however, it has the added feature of being able to have baby’s arms in or out at the pop of a couple of buttons, which are located around the shoulder area. This feature is particularly good for those babies who are a lot more sensitive to the startle reflex. Ted does this a lot but it doesn’t usually wake him up completely and most of the time he will nod back off to sleep. Other unique Gro-snug features include chin and zip guards to prevent rubbing, no rough seams or edges and the chest is double lined for extra comfort.

One of my favourite features is that the zip opens from the bottom. It makes for changing nappies in the night so much easier. You don’t have to completely disturb the baby by having their arms out and it saves you almost entirely undressing them and removing them from a Gro-bag.

The bag itself is really roomy and allows for baby’s “frog leg” position when they’re asleep. The Gro-snug is made of a lovely stretchy cotton material so when Ted moves around in it, there’s still a bit of flexibility. This is a baby’s natural position and will help keep their hips healthy.

It’s a ‘one size fits all newborns’ (from 5lbs-12lbs) and comes in both light and cosy weights, and comes with a thermometer as standard so you know what’s best to dress baby in at night time. The Gro-snug washes really well, we usually do all our washing at 30 degrees, and it dries really quickly too.

Overall, it certainly proves much easier to contain those octopus like limbs, and the best thing is.. it stays on!

So, if you fancy your chances at winning a fab Gro-Snug for yourself, then I have one on offer! The wonderful team at The Gro Company and I are offering one lucky winner the chance to win a ‘cosy’ weight Gro-snug which is ideal if you, or someone you know, is due a baby later in the year!
