Christmas Bonanza | Jungle Jam Book

Both Toby and Teddy enjoy a good book. They love anything that has good rhythm, anything that can have lots of voices made up in it and basically anything you can read!

One of the things my parents never really did with me was read bedtime stories. I would often lay up on my bed reading books of my own accord and I still do that now if I get the time. Literature and an interest in reading are something that I really hope both of my boys love doing and although we’ve not been consistent ‘bed time story’ readers, we’ve been making much more of an effort recently to read books before bed.

Jungle Jam is a book written by Louise and Noam, husband and wife, who wanted to share their passion of music and writing with their children. Louise is a passionate writer and when she became a mum it inspired her to fulfil her dream. Noam, on the other hand, is a musician, author and educator and has built a successful career out of music and has a passion for music education. Together these two were always going to be formidable with their dreams, passions and talents.

The Jungle Jam book is all about Mikey the Monkey who has dreams of becoming a famous singer. He decides to leave his home one day and goes on a wild and musical adventure to show the world his singing talents.

Along the way he meets lots of different animals who are all equally as musically talented; whether it’s drumming elephants, a piano playing lion or a guitar playing zebra, Mikey meets them all. Each animal asks him to sing and join in while they play their instrument but each time he politely declines and carries on to the next animal. It’s only when Mikey gets to the end and finds them all together that he joins in a full band.

I love that the book talks about Mikey following his dreams and finally settling in with a band to help him on his way. The Jungle Jam book is well illustrated – very colourful, engaging and vibrant.

At the end of the book you can find a couple of ideas for the children to make their own instruments which is a great way of carrying on the idea of the book and keeping their interest.

Toby and Teddy both love Jungle Jam and often pick it off the shelf as the first book to read before bedtime! You can pick it up for £5.99 at Amazon or you have the chance to win your very own copy below, just in time for Christmas. What an awesome little stocking filler this would make!
