Week 36 has been full of hospital appointments and scans but the news is all good! I can cook you for at least a couple of more weeks and your due date is closing in quickly! This means that my weekly updates will soon be coming to an end but I’ll be able to finally give you a wonderful birth announcement.
What’s Happening To You In Week 36?
According to my information sources you should weigh around 6lbs, although that’s not the case with you. I had a scan on Wednesday to do a full growth check and they can more or less estimate your weight. You’re only about 4lb 15oz. However, you’re due to go through another growth spurt. The fat you accumulate this week is more than likely going to show around your cheeks so there’s plenty to pinch (SO cute!).
Now, there really isn’t much room for you to move around anymore and space is pretty tight, so even when you’re asleep (90% of the time) I can still feel you wriggling. I’ve so far been able to make out your feet and little bum and I’ve been feeling to see if you’re head down too but, as you’re quite a way down, I think I keep getting your shoulders.
What’s Happening To Mummy In Week 36?
Mummy’s uterus has grown – yay! I had the midwife on Monday and somehow, in the last two weeks, I’ve grown 4cm, bringing me back up to roughly where I should be. So, as much as that’s one less thing to worry about, I’ve certainly noticed an increase in back ache and sciatic nerve pain down both of my legs.
Hello lightning crotch! I think you must’ve dropped down quite a lot because of the pains I’m getting shooting through my lady bits and, although I still get heartburn, I’m not as breathless as I was which is lovely. I feel so much better for being able to have full lungs! The other problem with lots of downward pressure from you is that I can’t hold my bladder for very long, and if I do go to the loo, occasionally I get the odd trickle once I’m up and about. Yes, It might be too much information for some of you, but better not to sugar coat this kind of thing.
I’ve been tidying up this week and managed to get the upstairs done. I’ve always said I don’t get the nesting feeling, and I stand by that, it’s more just me telling myself to get off of my backside and get your stuff ready – plus the junk room needed clearing out and yesterday was the day I’d had enough of closing the door on it and decided to just do it! I’m forever pottering around doing little bits anyway, although if you walked into my house you wouldn’t notice because if one corner gets cleared up another gets cluttered!
I’m meant to have gained around 2-3 stone in weight, but I weighed myself yesterday and I’m only 10st 2lbs – so that means I’ve only put on around a stone (yippee!).
I’m quite anxious for you to arrive now. I’ve been getting lots of Braxton Hicks, but last night it was a whole new level. Mix my lower back ache with you pushing on my sciatic nerve and stomach cramps and I was
hoping convinced that I might be going into labour. Turns out it was nothing because you’re still in there, but I’m pretty fed up of being pregnant and would rather you were here so we can start our journey as a family of four.
What do you think? Have I grown/dropped this week compared to week 35? It certainly looks and feels quite strained!
