I had to get up much earlier than Toby and Jamie at the beginning of this week. I had a midwife appointment and typically Toby had been up really early again and wouldn’t settle in his cot – so he ended up in bed with us.
I went to the midwife at 8.45am on Monday, she wasn’t the one I’d been seeing and, after doing all of the usual stuff, asked me to lay down so she could do her measurements. As my uterus was measuring 29cm at my 28 week appointment she had expected to see at least some steady growth, but when I only came up as 30cm she was a little concerned. When it was plotted on the graph, it effectively shows as slow, or static, growth.
I wasn’t too panicked at first. Babies can be lying in a different position, his head could’ve dropped into my pelvis a bit, and maybe she did it a little differently to the midwife before. Then she told me she’d like to send me for a scan. I eventually had a phone call later that day saying I had an appointment to attend on Wednesday.
We had our friends come round about lunch time and we headed over to the park. We had completely misjudged the weather and the wind – it was freezing!! We must’ve only been over there 15 minutes before we headed back. What’s more, they’ve taken the slide away? What is a park without a slide?
I was back to work as usual this week Tuesday and Wednesday. However, I did spend my Wednesday lunch time looking at my gorgeous little boy’s face on the screen at the scan – the best bit about it. All his measurements came back absolutely fine and they had no concerns! I did get them to double check he was definitely a boy, as I did with Toby at a 34 week scan I had with him – I’m pleased to say they didn’t get it wrong. I don’t need to paint the nursery pink just yet!
Thursday was quite productive in a boring way. We went food shopping. In Tesco. Big mistake! I usually get everything I can from Aldi and only pick up a few bits from Tesco. It came to around £95, but luckily I had £5 off through in the post. However, we did get toilet rolls, some quite expensive peanut butter and other bits we wouldn’t usually buy if it wasn’t Easter. *Hides chocolate behind back*. I did manage to make a rather lovely cheesecake in the afternoon though! White chocolate with mixed in flake and little nests on top with some Malteaster rabbits, very rich, but very lovely!
Needless to say the whole lot is now gone. It has lasted us until Sunday, but we made a fair dent in it after we ate the fish pie I’d spend Friday afternoon preparing.
Saturday was basically the most rock and roll day I’ve had. I spent most of it pottering around the house doing bits of cleaning here and there. I couldn’t face doing the whole house, but I did manage to get all of the downstairs done. I think I’ll probably tackle the upstairs on Monday morning just to get it out of the way.
Of course, today is Easter. We’ve been to see my auntie and uncle and drop off some chocolate bunnies to her children. Toby has already been rather spoiled and he still has some more eggs to come from other family members. Mummy and daddy are very much looking forward to helping him eat some of it. Well, mummy is. We’ve never denied Toby chocolate – I think it teaches them moderation from a young age.
We’re planning to do some small crafty bits either later today or maybe tomorrow afternoon. Some colouring, baking, creating.. anything he fancies. I might even be brave and get some paint out.. or maybe I should wait until it’s a bit warmer outside! We did build some really crazy things with the Duplo this morning though..
How was your week?
Here’s what happened in Week 12..

Glad everything was OK at your scan. That cheesecake looks amazing
