Keeping Up With The Bump | Week 32

The excitement has really started to kick in now we’re at week 32! Things are slowly coming together and I’m feeling a bit more relaxed!

What’s Happening To You In Week 32?

You are seriously rocking out in there! I can feel you constantly move which is no surprise since space is being much more scarce now. As far as I know, all of your five senses are fully developed which you’re putting into practise before you make your entrance. You’re looking around the environment you’re in, listening to the sound of mummy and daddy (and probably your big brother Toby too), you’re reaching out and trying to grab things and obviously you can taste anything I eat through the amniotic fluid, although I’m not sure exactly what you might be able to smell!

Your position is becoming more stable now – mostly the foetal position as you can’t stretch out like you used to. It doesn’t stop you trying though; I’ve got your feet, knees, elbows and hands all giving me a good whack when you’ve run out of room. Fat is accumulating nicely and you continue to plump up! It should make you around 4lbs now, and you’re about 17 inches long. Your skeleton is still hardening too.

The midwife confirmed to me on Monday that you were head down, and she even let me feel your head, which was really weird! I came home and kept doing it, but I’ve left you alone now!

What’s Happening To Mummy In Week 32?

Lower back pain is becoming increasingly annoying. I never really had it with Toby, but if I’m doing something that requires a bit of bending, I have to take a break. It was so bad the other day I honestly thought I was going into labour. I had to sit down at the table and have your dad rub my back which helped a little but I had to go and lay down on the bed in the end.

I am seriously struggling with breathlessness and swollen vessels in my nose – this is due to the increased volume of blood I have pumping around at the moment. It’s roughly an extra 40-50% more than usual. It’s like having the common cold, as well as having someone crush your lungs at the same time. I forever sound like I’m huffing at something because I’m breathing so deeply. Just going up the stairs is becoming hard work!

I’ve finally managed to get on some scales and weigh myself. I was expecting to have at least put on a stone! I usually hover anywhere between 8st 10lbs and 9st 2lbs – I currently only weigh 10 stone exactly. It was a similar story with Toby though, I was literally all bump and nothing anywhere else! I’m apparently meant to be gaining around 1lb a week now – roughly half of which will go to you. Greedy boy!

As you well know, we had a scan last week because the midwife was concerned about your growth and we saw your face – you’re such a cutie! It won’t be long until we meet now. I have a consultant appointment on Tuesday morning and I’m hoping I might get your birthday booked in but I won’t hold my breath… mostly because I’m so short of it anyway!

Here we are at week 32!

  • You look amazing. What a perfect bump. You are glowing. I remember this point so well. It was such an exciting time, and let me tell you that when your baby arrives it’s going to be ten times better than you are imagining. My son is 10 months old now and it’s gone by in the flash of a light! Life really does begin when you have a child <3

    • Thank you! I don’t feel like it. I feel a bit decrepit and useless haha. Ooh yes I know, I remember it well with my first little boy, I just hope I don’t suffer too much as I’m having a c-section this time! It truly does, my little boy is almost 19 months and I can remember the day he was born like yesterday, it’s crazy how quickly time flies! xx

  • You have such a neat bump 🙂 I remember the shortness of breathe and well to be honest I gave up trying to bend around 30 weeks as I was huge lol! I stuck to wearing slip on trainers if I had to go out. #mummymonday

    • Ahh thank you so much! Yes, it’s all coming back to me now. I wasn’t too bad with my first pregnancy, could still bend down and shave my legs, but this one is proving a bit more challenging! Oooh yes, great idea. Either that or get the other half to put my shoes on for me haha x

    • Thank you! Oh the rib pain is the worst thing ever. I was forever pushing down on my first little boy when I was pregnant with him. Hoping that he’ll give in soon and get the idea haha x
