Top 5 | Places To Go In Norfolk With The Kids

Ever wanted to know some good places to go in Norfolk with the kids? Maybe you’re a Norfolk regular looking for somewhere new, or maybe you’re new to Norfolk and want to know where’s good to go. Here are my top 5 places to go in Norfolk that’ll make for a great day, weekend or week long visit.

Dinosaur Adventure Park

An award winning attraction in Norfolk, the Dinosaur Adventure Park is one of the UK’s most exciting days out, let alone one of Norfolk’s. This is a great day out for all the family. Set in 85 acres of parkland there is no shortage of things to do; indoor and outdoor karting, a dinosaur trail, a 3 storey indoor soft play area (Dinomite), animal encounters, safari and more.

It’s a great break in the summer now they’ve got their most recent attraction up and running – Dippy’s Splash Zone. Boasting 20 water play features, the kids will want to get straight to it when the sun’s out. Typically the Dinosaur Adventure Park will also hold themed weeks throughout the year if there is a calendar event coming up. Over Easter they’ll be doing some egg-citing activities! If your kids love Dinosaurs, a day out and want lots of stuff to keep them occupied then in the words of the Dinosaur Park; “it’s time you came-n-saurus“.

High Lodge Thetford Forest

If you’re looking for another day out during your stay in Norfolk, then High Lodge, Thetford Forest is great for all the family. The Stick Man trail at High Lodge in Thetford is a mile long activity trail which, while typically aimed at younger children, is good family fun. A Stick Man activity pack costs just £3.

You’ll also find a carving of the Gruffalo’s child over towards the new Tree House. Speaking of which, the Tree House and Climbing Forest is a rather impressive play area if you fancy a sit down while the kids race around this play area.

If you take your bikes down to High Lodge they do have some amazing bike trails you can do. They’ve even put together ‘Pump Track’ which is an enclosed cycling facility consisting of rolling features which will allow riders to build their skills, speed and confidence before hitting some of the trails.

If you’re looking for something a bit more adventurous round these here parts, High Lodge is also home to Go Ape! Who wouldn’t want to do a Tarzan swing or zip slides while on holiday?

BeWILDerwood

A place with a difference, BeWILDerwood is a wild adventure park , intriguing characters and magical treehouses. Also award winning (there’s a theme here) this adventure park makes for an exciting day out for all the family. Parents are actively encouraged to join in with their kids in this crazy world. Be enchanted by the storytellers of BeWILDerwood, go down the slipperiest slides, venture deep into the pongy marshes and whizz around on wires, all after you’ve been on the BeWILDerboats of course.

In 2014 they opened their highest and wildest adventure yet. Set in a treetop canopy, the Sky Maze boasts nearly half a kilometre of an interwoven structure which weaves and winds through the landscape, over and under the trees reaching over 8 metres at the Parasquawks’ Nest. Sky Maze is made up of connecting tunnels, walkways and bridges, cargo nets and spiral staircases, zigzag beams and spectacular vantage points.

If you’re in Norfolk, and the weather is good, make sure to stop by here!

Banham Zoo

You can’t go wrong with a zoo can you? Founded in 1968 Banham Zoo is one of my favourite places to go in Norfolk and I have lots of fond memories – one being when I fell off the roundabout in the playground because it was going too fast. Everyone was laughing except me.

With over 2000 animals in almost 50 acres of gardens and parks, there’s plenty to see and do at Banham Zoo. Everything from birds and domestic live stock to mammals, reptiles, invertebrates and fish, it’s a really lovely day out. There are daily activities and displays too. There’s not much else to say about it, but it’s well worth a look!
