If watching Peaky Blinders has taught me anything it’s that I fancy Cillian Murphy with a sharp hair cut and wearing a suit with braces.

Fashion may come and go but suits never seem to go out and braces (or suspenders), it seems, are always making the rounds too. These days though, even women like to wear them. JJ Suspenders are based in the USA and was founded by Jackson and Josh (hence the JJ) who set out to create superior braces for men. Today, they’re available worldwide and you’ll even find women picking up the goods.

They’re crafted using unique materials and real leather which sets them apart from lots of other companies who create them en masse. You’ll find designs that include flowers, stripes and skulls in amongst all the classic colours. Not only are they designed to do their job, but they’re designed to go with pretty much any outfit you choose.

There are skinny and classic widths and suspenders are designed to fit heights between 5ft 2″ and 6ft 2″, and there’s a 14 day refund policy if you change your mind. How To Wear Suspenders

If you’re stuck on how to wear them, JJ Suspenders have a style guide and a blog on their website, but they’re so versatile it’d be hard going not to find something to wear them with. Whatever you’re wearing, suspenders can easily bring an air of edginess, coolness or sharpness to any outfit; whether it’s a cord skirt with boots and a blouse, or straightforward tailored trousers and a white shirt there’s an outfit for everyone.

Accessories

When you think of braces, you probably don’t think of there being much choice in terms of shape or customising but there are a few things you’re able to shift around.

I mentioned above that there are skinny or wide suspenders, but there is also the option to have them clip on or button on to your trousers, shorts or skirt.

There’s also the small details of whether you have an X back or a Y back and whether they’re stretchy or woven. I honestly didn’t realise there was this much choice and I thought that a pair of suspenders was exactly that.
