With only 6 days left until Mother’s Day, I thought now was the time to put together my “wishlist and gift ideas” post. There are, of course, lots of things that you and I would probably like for Mother’s Day but what do we mums really want? Some mums will say that the best gifts come unwrapped. Other mums would love the full works. Here’s my wishlist for the year.;
Extra Hour In Bed
Right now, I could honestly do with some of these hours! I’m lucky enough to have woken up feeling quite fresh this morning but I can not remember the last time I slept all the way through AND got a lie in. I’m either up 1-3 times a night and get up at 7.30am or I sleep all the way through and am woken up from around 6.15am. Of course, I would love to be laying in bed and have a cup of tea brought upstairs for me while I can just “rest my eyes” and doze a bit until I’m ready to get up in my own time. But that’s a pretty unrealistic expectation when you’re a mum!
Men To Be Mind Readers
Because how many times have you said one thing, and completely meant another, and hoped they get the hint? Probably once an hour, most hours, on most days.
Day Out On My Own
Just to do something child free, without having to think about where I might have to stop for lunch, or a nappy change. Whether it be a bit of window shopping, a catch up with some of the girls, or getting my nails done.. just something for myself. Oh, and coming back to a nice clean house wouldn’t go amiss either would it?
Aside from that, I’m hoping for a nice little bunch of flowers and a card from my littlest man! I probably wouldn’t say no to a nice new camera either. Yes, that was a hint. Refer to ‘Men To Be Mind Readers’.
If you’re really stuck for gift ideas, here are a few presents you could get depending on what she likes..
A subscription to a baby magazine! There are lots you can choose from depending on whether she’s pregnant or has a toddler. Gurgle, Prima Baby and Mother and Baby are just a few that come to mind. All wonderful deals if you take it out annually, and even better, you usually end up with a free gift! Prices range between magazines.
A nice piece of jewellery. Whether she likes earrings, a necklace or a bracelet. Pandora do some lovely designs and usually bring out an “occasion” charm specifically for days like this. Here’s one from their website (pandora.net) currently retailing at £35.00.
A personalised mug. You can get these anywhere, from PhotoBox to MoonPig to Not On The High Street. Prices range depending on your design. I got one made for my OH for Father’s Day last year, they last really well and are a good size.
Flowers, flowers, flowers. You can’t go wrong! Whether it’s a £3 bunch from Tesco, or a £30 bunch from the florist, we love them! Or how about a nice plant that might last a bit longer?
A good family picture in a nice frame can help a room look that little bit nicer and homelier, I can’t wait to get lots of pictures up of our family and our boys in the kitchen! Going to need plenty of frames for that though. You can get the frames from just about anywhere, and pictures are so easy to print off whether you order them online, or get them done at Boots, there’s no excuse! Say cheese.
Mums normally love nothing more than a nice card. We don’t want much, something handmade or shop bought with lots of scribble in there. You can order personalised ones from the same shops I mentioned earlier in the personalised mug section, or you could pop down to your local card shop and pick one out that you really love.
There are lots of different gifts you could get your Mum, but these are just a few! What’ve you got your Mum for Mother’s Day, or if you’re a mum yourself, what would you really like?
