laura first two then blue guest post blog octopus arms mummy of many struggles too much to do

Hi all – Laura here! A big thank you to Jade for letting me guest post on her lovely blog! Hope you enjoy my post 🙂

There are many parents out there who are juggling busy family life with 2, 3 or more kids, jobs, training courses. These parents, like myself, are brave! The people who are doing all this and are completely stress free and enjoying every minute, well… those people deserve medals!!

Having 3 children is NOT easy, realistically it’s never going to be, is it? but it’s not just about the 3 children, it’s everything that comes with it that makes it so hard. School runs, mounds of never ending laundry, piles of never ending dirty dishes, your home that was once lovely and clean being completely trashed, homework to be done, tea to be cooked, kids to be bathed, uniforms to get ready, packed lunches to make!

If a woman’s work is never done, then a mother has no chance!!!

So when all the work is done and it’s time to sit down and watch a film with the other half and a nice cup of tea, something happens that prevents that from actually happening.

No, not 1 of the kids waking up. I can’t actually blame them for interrupting my “me” time.

What happens is…  I fall asleep! No matter how much I want to stay awake I just can’t, because the minute I sit down my tiredness hits me and I’m asleep. It makes me feel very old and boring!

Of course we all love our children very much, and I can honestly say I couldn’t picture my life without my 3 little darlings now. But at the end of the day, we are stressed out parents and we need to rant!!!

Here are my top 5 mummy madness moments:

1. Octopus arms when the children come out of school and throw their bags and lunch boxes at you to hold while they run off and have fun.

2. All hell breaks loose when the phone rings and you very bravely decide to take the call because all is calm, then you hear the screams because one child has eaten the other child’s last Haribo!

3. Sleepless nights. When your child should be well past the waking up in the night stage but is still doing it!

4. “Mum I’m desperate for a wee”. The classic line we hear when we have just got back to the car after leaving somewhere that most likely had toilets.

5. Public tantrums. When one of them starts having a meltdown in the middle of the busiest aisle of the supermarket telling you that they hate you. You can feel all eyes on you; the God awful parent who didn’t let their child have the £20 toy they wanted!

I could easily add another 5 mummy madness moments but I won’t, as I’m sure I’m not the only one who has experienced those 5 things far too many times!

Everybody who has young children have days like these, when they feel they are the most unlucky parents and their children are the worst behaved! The thing is not every parent will admit it.

Sometimes the reassurance is just what we need to help us get on with it and remember that one day our little babies will be all grown up and leaving home. Then we will realise that those years spent with our young family were the best years of our lives 🙂

A note from Jade

Yes, yes and yes to all of this! I’m now a mum of two and find that difficult enough, let alone 3. But it’s really about remembering what family means. It means hard work and having ‘octopus arms’, but it also means lots of love and the most incredible memories! Don’t let those hard moments overshadow what being a mum and dad is all about. I loved this post! x
