Project 365 – Week 20

This week is such an improvement on the week before, thankfully, although there have been a couple of days when I’ve thought it’s all about to go downhill.

After ‘The Baby Show’ I couldn’t face doing much on Monday and luckily it was raining, so we had a day indoors doing odd jobs. There were a lot of cuddles and lots catching up on crappy tv and of course Paw Patrol. It was nice to not be rushing around and on my feet all day and I love a day in not getting dressed.

On Tuesday, Toby went to Nanny’s and Toddler Sense and I had the consultant first thing in the morning so they could do their last checks before my pre-op appointment on Thursday. Is the baby head down? Check. Blood pressure taken? Check. The millionth person to ask me why I’ve opted to have a c-section? CHECK! Unbelievably frustrating! I came home and did some (more) tidying up – it’s literally never ending. It doesn’t help that I don’t feel a bit organised or prepared for this baby and I’m probably going over the same stuff but I’m in a bit of panic mode.

In better news I found out that the blog had made the Tots 100 top 500 blogs, in at number 375 out of around 8000. I know it’s only a score but still.. it’s little things like this that brighten your day. It was also Toby’s great great nana’s birthday! We didn’t always see eye to eye and she was your typical old lady with an attitude, but I am so grateful she got to see Toby! She passed away at the end of last year and this is the only picture I have of her and Toby together.

Wednesday was too busy for my liking. I ended up in town first thing to try and find some “coming home from hospital” clothes for me, only to get them home and find out they’re not at all suitable and need taking back. I also popped into where I work to say hello to everyone I’d not seen for a while and to check out our new offices! However, to really finish off the day, and to mark my last bit of time as a mum of one, I decided to treat myself to an Indian head massage which was absolutely amazing. Totally worth coming out of the shop with the greasiest looking hair ever! I’d highly recommend anyone to treat themselves to one, especially with my beautician anyway…

Thursday was a bit of a disaster, and something that should only take 30 minutes max, turned into half a day out. I was due to have my pre-op appointment at 11.30am and didn’t get called until 13.45pm. 2 hours and 15 minutes late. They hadn’t even got my name on the list for the morning as they hadn’t updated their computer records. Jamie ended up having to be picked up before I’d gone in, there was nobody who came and told me they were running SO late that I could probably go and get some dinner or a cup of tea, and when I eventually did go through, there was no apology! Apparently the person doing the clerking had decided to take himself away from where he was scheduled to be to go and help with an emergency elsewhere, which is fine, but at least have the decency to try and get someone to contact the rest of your appointments to either rearrange for later, get someone to cover, or cancel. Don’t leave us waiting for 2 hours 15 minutes! Luckily one of the lovely healthcare assistants made me a proper cup of tea and offered me some fruit shortcake biscuits – mmmmmm!!

Toby hadn’t been right since Thursday, but Friday and Saturday were the days being ill really kicked in, he even fell asleep on the sofa which is completely unheard of. He was so unsettled on Friday night and was waking every half an hour that I took the decision to bring him into bed with us, just so it meant I didn’t have to keep getting up and down; turns out our bed is super comfy and snoozy and he slept right through until 7ish, but dozed for about another hour before we got up. He hardly ate or drank most of Saturday, but today he seems a bit more himself. I’ve also noticed his molar is all the way through now, rather than just a little point so this won’t have helped either – which is probably why he had the meltdown at Nanny and Pop’s house yesterday! On the bright side, my mum in law made a white chocolate tiffin especially for me (although amazingly I have shared a couple of pieces) but safe to say I’m not sure the rest will see until the end of tomorrow!

Next week, I will obviously have some absolutely amazing news for you.. and that is that the baby will be here and I will be a mum of two – EEK! It’s likely that we’ll miss week 21 but I will do my best to keep up with you all when I can, but you’ll all forgive me if I don’t, right?
