Review | Ellis James Make Up Case

I have long tried to find a way to store all my make up and brushes without something taking up a whole lot of space. I don’t have many products as I’m quite minimalist in what I wear anyway; I may occasionally step out of my comfort zone for a night out but typically you’ll find I own probably no more than 10 products in total. That’s not to say that I don’t like to keep them tidy and stored nicely though.

Ellis James recently landed in my inbox with details of their black makeup train case and it came at exactly the right time. With me spending a bit more time away from home at the weekends over the last couple of months, and also me looking at ways I can declutter the top of my chest of drawers which I use as my dressing table I was interested to see what this case would have to offer that I’ve not been able to find anywhere else.

The first thing I noticed was how luxurious it felt. Previously I’ve had make up bags or a plastic tower of drawers, which inevitably end up filled with tat, and then I just end up feeling like it’s a ‘make do’ kind of thing because it’s not actually that nice. The Ellis James case was black, padded and quilted and it just felt ‘proper’.

When I opened it up I couldn’t believe the capacity. It was a bit like a tardis and I honestly didn’t know if I was going to manage to fill it up and use it to its potential. The main compartment is large but comes with 4 removable velcro dividers so you’re able to section it out in different ways depending on what products you’d like to fit in it.

It can be used as a make up case, a toiletry bag or a mix of both and that makes it perfect for when you need to travel as I’m sure half of the time at least half of the products you’ll want to take with you will already be packed. It’s compact, portable and angular which I love because it means it fits well in corners.

There are 12 different sized tool slots which can be used for make up brushes, tweezers or your toothbrush and there’s a cover to protect all of these from the products in the main compartment. There’s also a removable pouch with a zip if you want to just take a small selection of products out with you on the go.

The interior is wipe clean, water-resistant and padded to keep things neat. It’s possibly the best thing I’ve ever had to store my make up in and it’s so handy to sling into an overnight bag. This makeup bag has definitely been designed for those of us on the go and for those of us who want to keep things seamless. Whether you keep your bag at home or have it as a travel companion, Ellis James have you covered.
