Morton’s Traditional Taste | Christmas Hamper

For the last 2 years we’ve had our Christmas turkey from Morton’s Traditional Taste; a local farm who have been around more than 70 years and since 1998 have specialised in free-range and organic poultry.

I can, hand on heart, say that these are the best Norfolk turkeys I have ever eaten and we’ll be getting our turkey from here for a third year. So far we’ve had the most succulent meat, and a lot of it too – there’s always loads left over for a curry the next day. The taste is undeniably flavoursome and gamey which is exactly how turkey should taste

What Do Morton’s Offer?

Rearing high quality poultry doesn’t just mean turkeys. Perhaps you prefer a super traditional goose or maybe even a cockerel; either way Morton’s have it all.

There’s nothing like preparing the turkey ready for Christmas Day.

Over the last couple of years they’ve expanded their range and offerings and this year I’m really excited to see hampers and accompaniments on the website, such as pigs in blankets and pork and chestnut stuffing, alongside their smokehouse goods which includes salmon and duck breast.

If this isn’t a feast ready to prepare for a king then I’m not sure what is!

Small Christmas Hamper

This year Morton’s small Christmas hamper is packed with the whole meaty shebang; covering breakfast and the main dinner right through to the picky tea we all inevitably get out later in the evening.

Whether you want to start off Christmas day with smoked salmon for breakfast or whether you’d prefer to use it as a starter, this light yet rich fish is traditionally smoked using aromatic oak chips.

The free-range Norfolk Bronze breast joint feeds 5-7 people. Add to this the 6 pigs in blankets and 600g of free-range pork and chestnut stuffing and all you’ve got to get for dinner are the vegetables and any other accompaniments you might like. Top it all off with some turkey gravy, bread sauce and cranberry sauce – all of which are included too!

Finish off with a traditional Christmas pudding dessert. We don’t all have time to make our own and I know that this is the highlight of the day for some people so it’s always nice to make sure it’s a good one. We’ll be offering this along with some chocolate yule log for the kids… and me.

When it comes to getting out the picky buffet tea, why not add some oak-smoked chicken or duck breast from the offerings in this hamper? I know we’ll be saving any leftover turkey for curry and it’s always nice to have a bit of cold meat out amongst the cheese, crackers and crisps (plus any leftover roasties, not that that’s a thing in this house!).

Personally, I wouldn’t get my Christmas turkey from anywhere else now that we’ve had Morton’s and I think you’d change your mind too. They’re so much better than the ones you’ll find down the freezer aisle in Tesco. You can often choose a delivery date so it’s delivered fresh to your door closer to Christmas and if you’re local you can even pick it up from the farm.
