Cow and Gate recently sent us their new baby and toddler snack range, The Super Yummies, to road test on the kids. This new range of deliciously different snacks were developed by mums and nutritionists for little ones aged 12months+.
This range is made from real and carefully selected ingredients to create new, unique and exciting tastes and that is exactly what they are. The ground breaking flavour combinations offer toddlers the chance to experience something other than your standard snack flavour; with some of them even being acquired tastes (beetroot and parsnip, no less).
The Super Yummies range includes freeze dried fruit pieces, vegetable slices, breadsticks, rice cakes and a variety of fruit and yoghurt pouches. They come in handy lunchbox sized bags and share sized, resealable bags. Personally I would prefer that more snack ranges come like this, in a bigger bag with the option to reseal – I just think this is such a great and convenient option that Cow and Gate have offered, but I’d like to see it on more products!
I love that the range is healthy and offers alternatives to standard crisps or biscuit snacks, with flavours that will tickle their little tastebuds! The flavour combinations are so new and exciting, especially in a baby range of food, so it may take them a few times to get used to them but it’s definitely worth persevering.
Just because of the texture and the need to chew them, rather than have them gummed to death I think I’d wait until Ted was a bit older to buy them again for him despite him loving all the flavours. He was much more receptive . Toby isn’t so keen on trying new things and was quite reluctant although he was very interested in the range and did pick them up and have a feel and a sniff (typical 2.5 year old!).
The packaging is vibrant and eye catching and the colours Cow and Gate have chosen are perfect! We’ll definitely be keeping our eye out for any additions to the range, and we’ll also be trying the ones we haven’t yet had the chance to try out. Who knows what flavour combinations could be next?
