Typically, the Easter weekend is a wet one and so it’s always good to have a few tricks up your sleeve for the rainy days. Something we love to do is bundle up on the sofa and just watch movies, especially on a good TV; our dream TV at the moment is a Panasonic 4K TV, that’s the only thing that would make it that much better.
Just like we watch Christmas movies, who’s to say you can’t watch “Easter” movies? Here are my top 5 family movies to watch when the weather gets a bit questionable over this half term!
Alice in Wonderland
A 1951 classic from Walt Disney, journey with Alice as she follows the white rabbit down the rabbit hole and stumbles upon Wonderland. You could also watch the 2010 version if you have more grown up children, but we prefer this for the younger eye. The 1951 version is beyond imaginative, colourful and captivating and it’s one of those you can watch over again.
Hop
Now this is a film that has only recently come to my attention despite being released in 2011, but I didn’t have kids then! This is a great animated film about the Easter Bunny’s son who wants to become a drummer in a rock ‘n’ roll band. Giggles for all the family and the animation is fab. Despite my preference of cartoon animations for the boys, they’re both transfixed with this!
Rise of the Guardians
Not strictly anything to do with bunnies, but the Easter Bunny does play a part in this (with the voice of Hugh Jackman, hello!). I think this is just a great all round film that can be watched any time of the year and it’s good for the adults too.
Here Comes Peter Cottontail
This is a bit of an older one from 1971, but is still worth watching. Peter Cottontail has to go back in time and save Easter from the horrible Irontail after he oversleeps after agreeing to a race. Oops! Family fun to be had here.
Bugs Bunny’s Easter Special
No Easter is complete without Bugs Bunny and this is one for the kids and one for the adults to watch and reminisce over Looney Toons! Just some good fun, and they’re short episodes too, so if the kids only fancy it in short bursts between eating their Easter eggs, this is perfect.
