One thing I love getting is food; it could be my shopping from the supermarket or it could be a letterbox hamper of goodies but food is food and I enjoy trying new things and finding new products.
Having said that, one thing I need to be careful of is overdoing the snacks because it can happen all too easily. Except at Christmas. You can never really overdo any kind of food at Christmas. Or at least, you can never overdo gifting food at Christmas. There’s at least one person in our family who gets a nice little hamper of food every year and it’s probably my favourite thing to put together.
This year though I’ve found out about Yumbles. A curated marketplace connecting people like me with the UK’s best independent makers of small batch food and drink, it’s definitely one place to look if you’re looking for something a little extra. Every maker has been hand selected to appear on the marketplace and from that you know it’s going to be tasty.

How Does Yumbles Work?
Each maker lists their goods on this artisan marketplace (think ‘Not On The Highstreet’ but just food and drink) and you order via Yumbles. The maker then receives your order, prepares the goods (often made fresh) and gets them sent out to you. However, this is the one thing that catches you out.
While the price of the product can appear fantastic, the delivery charges in a lot of cases is extortionate. With a budget in mind my options felt really limited. You are able to join up to their FEC (Food Explorers Club) membership scheme which gives additional benefits, and this option is presented to you when going through checkout so please make sure to read the boxes.
What Did You Order?
I finally settled on a Lottie Shaw’s ‘Hamper Box of Individual Treats’ and treats they were! We just spent a weekend on the Norfolk Broads with some friends and lets just say the hamper didn’t last long. Included was:
One individual slice of: Millionaire Flapjack, Ginger Parkin Flapjack, Cherry & Almond Flapjack, Traditional Oat Flapjack, Belgian Chocolate Chip Flapjack, and Millionaire Shortbread.

Two biscuits of each: Ginger Parkin Biscuits, Shortbread Biscuits, Oat Biscuits, and Chocolate Oat Biscuits.
All of these were individually wrapped and packed up beautifully in a recyclable box. My favourite was the ginger flapjack for sure. The box was a little too big given the contents but you could easily re-use it for gifting if you wanted to wrap some string around it and pop a tag on.
Yumbles also cater for those whose diets require a bit more looking after including gluten free, dairy free, sugar free and vegan. If you’re looking for the perfect artisan Christmas gifts this year then have a little look!
