Professor Scrubbingtons – Review and Giveaway

I had been eyeing up the Professor Scrubbingtons range for a while so when they contacted me with a chance to review their whole range, I naturally jumped at the chance. The first thing that ever drew me to the range was the design. I loved it and as a mum of two young children, it really appealed to me. It’s not filled with goofy, cheesy and quirky animals or characters which is so refreshing. It’s sophisticated and will carry really well because it will suit younger children right through to young teens looking for a more “grown up” approach to toiletries.

The range includes a “magically foaming” shampoo, conditioner, hair and body wash, hand and face wash and a “magically fragrant” deodorant – it’s everything the kids need top to toe, and since my kids are too little to give me their honest opinions, I guess it’s down to me to use them myself – what a shame (eek!).

The first thing you’ll see is that, aside from the design I’ve just been harping on about, the range comes in this fantastic cardboard suitcase plastered with retro style stickers, which is almost too cute to just throw in the recycling!

The first thing I decided to try was the “Magically Foaming Shampoo” and “Magically Foaming Conditioner”. I was stumped with how to open the bottle at first, but it made total sense once I figured it out – (go on, give it a go). My hair is partly dyed and bleached so I twas a little concerned about how my hair would react. Admittedly, the shampoo made my hair feel really dry and a bit like straw- but let’s not forget the range is aimed at kids who most likely don’t have their hair dyed! I hoped the conditioner would help bring my hair a bit more back to life, and it did, but I had to use quite a bit as my hair is also quite thick. I couldn’t for the life of me work out how it was supposed to foam up as initially it came out pretty watery, but after giving the bottle a good old shake, it did the trick.

The next thing I used was the magically foaming hand and face wash. It has a fabulous wide pump which is great for smaller hands to get to grips with and means they’re unlikely to miss it coming out! As it’s foam it doesn’t get squirted all over the sink, and it doesn’t come out at 100mph! This is now our new family bathroom feature and Toby thinks it’s great when he needs to wash his hands.

As I said, Toby and Ted are a bit young to voice their opinions, so they’re also a bit young for the deodorant and since I had run out of mine I thought.. why not? It’s a really lovely, freshly fragranced roll on. It kept me dry all day and I was a mum on the go on the day I wore it. The bottle itself is nice and slim, again great for smaller hands. I really like that this is included in the range. You often see all the “adultier” products advertised, or lined up in the shop, but nothing really that could catch the eye of a young teen, or someone who is just becoming aware of their hygiene – this is hitting the spot for a gap in the market!

Aside from the shampoo and conditioner, I’ve also kept the hair and body wash on the side of the bath. Toby is not a toddler who will just sit and let me wash him – he’s very busy with his watering can and jug most of the time so this is great. It means I can use a good dollop and wash him from head to toe in one go!

Being a mum, I do take a keen interest in what goes into these types of products. Professor Scrubbingtons’ products are at least 98% natural, which is great. They all have this fantastic fresh scent, so at least any young teenage boys won’t go out smelling quite like a whole bottle of Joop! just yet. Overall we love this range. I think it would make an excellent gift or even a purchase for your own children.
