This week was very much an up and down kind of week. It started out OK, with me working on Tuesday and Wednesday before having next week off, until Thursday where I’d been invited to attend a BabyBjorn bloggers meet up to have a sneak preview of their products in some new spring/summer colours. Friday came, only to find that for the second time in a few months my engagement ring had broken! I just happened to feel that familiar “deep scratch”, to take it off my finger and it snap in my hands. Thankfully, the jeweller who made it has agreed to look at it again, but think we may to approach it differently this time. It just means I’ll be “ringless” for a week. If I wasn’t pregnant, I could probably go out on the pull (joking).
As the weekend approached I basically had a mini meltdown. I’d not had a good couple of days – tired, generally stressed and feeling like I should actually be doing something for the arrival of this baby in about 9 weeks time. We’ve had a cot bed for some time, it’s just been missing a few fixings. We managed to order a spare set which arrived on Saturday. Along came Sunday and I was so set on getting it up so Toby could move straight into that, while we moved his cot into the nursery. When we opened the pack, half of the fixings were missing and it put me in such a bad mood for the rest of the day. Just the fact that you think you’re going to get something productive done, and then you don’t!
I’d already ordered Toby’s new bedding from Mothercare and a cute little construction quilt cover from George at Asda which were due to arrive on Monday, so to not get it done was very frustrating.
The second thing we need for the nursery is a chest of drawers. I’d been looking for one for ages and had just started feeling like I was completely failing when I spotted one on eBay for collection 20 miles from here. Lucky me! I won it for £63. Not bad for a solid pine chest of drawers. This means next week I can finally get some clothes down from the loft and start washing those. As well as airing out the moses basket and car seat. It doesn’t seem like 5 minutes ago we put them up there. A lot more stuff needs to come down too, but it’s not urgent and who knows, I might treat the baby (me) to something new!
Just to add to my crappy Sunday, I didn’t manage to cook our potatoes enough to turn them into creamy mash.. so I cried about that too after the other half told me they weren’t done enough. They were bloomin’ well sliding off the knife when I checked them. So typical. I did feel a little better after I’d cried and joined in a #pbloggers chat on Twitter later that night.
I hope next week is better.
