I kicked off the week by attempting to sort some of the baby’s nursery things out! I have managed, thankfully, to get some newborn clothes put away in drawers, although I still have a huge box of 0-3 months that I need to wash and literally find a home for which may prove difficult. I also suggested that, as we didn’t have a big Easter roast, maybe we should go out for lunch somewhere nice and so the three of us, plus Jamie’s parents, went to Pizza Express.
We were in there for a little over two hours start to finish because their service was so slow. Considering the place was practically empty when we got there, and Toby was getting irritated because he was hungry, you’d have thought we’d have been in and out, but they seemed to like taking a leisurely pace. Nevertheless, it was a nice little lunch date out and Toby absolutely demolished his spaghetti bolognese, after he had dough balls for starters, and then shared a dessert with Pop which he thoroughly enjoyed from the look on his face – though I’m not sure whether he was just happy with the dessert or happy that he was taking it from someone else!
While I was at work on Wednesday, Toby and Jamie went to help Pop out with the gardening. As it turns out, Toby quite likes mud. In his hair, hood of his jacket, his ears, fingers and any other crevice humanly possible! It’s lovely for him to get stuck in while he’s outside though as I don’t think our garden is quite safe enough for him to be wandering around.
On Tuesday morning I found myself in the consultant’s office once more and left with a date for my caesarean. Bearing in mind I wasn’t convinced I was going to get one, I was more than happy because it means I can now start preparing myself mentally and can get things ready in time, providing he doesn’t decide to make an early entrance!
We enjoyed some soft play first thing Thursday morning. We drove all the way to Hunstanton to go to their indoor centre for a change and even though it was really windy, the beach was already filling up, although I did manage to capture it looking empty.
We then drove to see my Nan and Grandad, but popped into my Dad’s beforehand. They both had some Easter goodies as we hadn’t gotten round to seeing them yet, so now our chocolate stores are well and truly stocked! We won’t need any more for a while.
On Friday, Jamie was playing golf at the Belfry and wouldn’t be back until Saturday afternoon so I took the opportunity to drive 2 hours to see my mum, as she lives in Worksop. Usually if I drive down there we pop out to the shops, but we stayed in at her house, played around in the garden and took Toby over the park, which gave her an excuse to walk the dog too!
.While Jamie was away, I also took the opportunity to take my amazing PregnancyPillow (review coming soon) to bed! It was just SO amazing, I can’t even begin to tell you how good it was!
Unfortunately, it rained all day Saturday with some really horrendous wind so I ended up colouring with Toby, pottering around the house and just generally moseying around!
Sunday was the first time I’d cooked a roast since having our kitchen done.. or maybe even this year in fact, I’m not sure, but it was worth the wait! The Yorkshire puds I did were absolutely huge, I’m not quite sure how I managed it even, but they were pretty impressive. Even though it was still windy, we spent the morning sorting some things in the garden – we managed to mow the lawn and get two big reedy like plants dug up. The only problem is they’re so big, two of them fill our brown bin and we have to wait two weeks to do another load! After Toby had gone to bed that evening we sat down with an Easter egg (just helping Toby out) and watched the last episode of Fortitude. I couldn’t help feeling a little bit disappointed about the way it ended.. I just kind of expected something a bit more. Did you catch it?
