We’re now at week 21 in this pregnancy and that means we’re over the half way point! I’ve decided it’s time to keep up with the bump and note down all the little things that happen each week. I haven’t really had too much to show off until now though.
Pregnancy | Week 21
I’ve been able to feel you in my tummy since around 9 weeks. Second time round you can definitely tell the difference between what’s a flutter and what’s a normal bodily function. You’re now around 10.5″ (27cm) long, around the size of a large banana or carrot and weigh around 11 ounces. I honestly didn’t think you’d be that big by now, but apparently you’re really going to start growing now.
We make the effort to talk to you everyday and you’ve probably felt your big brother blowing those big raspberries on my belly. He’s just getting used to playing with you. Your taste buds are developing and anything I eat, you get to taste – luckily I’ve had no cravings yet so you haven’t had to try the same thing over again. You’re starting to get covered in vernix, but don’t worry, we’ll wipe it all off when you get here.
Your daddy felt you kick for the first time last week, even though I’ve been telling him for ages he should be able to feel you. It’s actually pretty early, it can take up to 28 weeks for dads to feel the first kicks and nudges. I’m almost positive you were doing somersaults last night!
I am in desperate need of some maternity clothes. I never needed any with your big brother because it was the height of summer when I was bigger and I could get away with leggings, maxi dresses and flowy tops. Since it’s now like the Arctic (we’ve had the tiniest bit of snow today), I actually need to get some jeans and big comfy tops. I do have some on order but they’re taking forever.
I can’t lay on my belly in bed anymore, speaking of which, my belly looks like it’s getting some peach fuzz going on! What’s that about? I didn’t like it last time, and I don’t like it this time either.
We’ve been discussing some names, but can’t really decide on anything yet. All I know is (joking aside) I really like Neville, although I would never call you that, so don’t worry!
Until next week..

To feel those first flutters again would be amazing. Your bump is lovely. Hope your maternity clothes arrive quickly!

It’s one of the best bits about being pregnant. I love being able to feel them wriggle, it’s a little bit sad when they leave and you don’t have any kicks from the inside, but it’s great when they’re pushing up on your tummy x
