Keeping Up With The Bump | Week 26

Week 26 has been much of the same as the last couple of weeks really.

What’s Happening To You In Week 26?

Before you know it, you’re going to be batting your eyelashes at me to get exactly what you want! Yours are growing this week and if they’re anything like mine, daddy’s or Toby’s, they’re going to be long and blonde. You’ve put on a bit more weight this week; you’re around 2lbs and it’s probably starting to feel a little cramped in there. Your eyes are beginning to open for the first time and, though you still don’t have much of an eye colour, your retina will now start developing, not that there’s too much to see inside a uterus, right? You can now respond to light, but I haven’t done the whole torch on belly thing to see if you move. Currently, over 50 percent of your energy is being used to help your brain grow. Your lungs are developing alveoli too.

What’s Happening To Mummy In Week 26?

So belly buttons usually have a life of their own during pregnancy. Mine tends to slightly pop out but only on one little bit, while the rest of it stays flat. The only plus side is that if you’ve had any fluff in there, that you’re able to get it out (I haven’t though, don’t worry). My uterus is about 2.5 inches above my belly button now and I can definitely tell it’s been growing – round ligament pain is not fun. It feels like stabbing pains when you’ve got a stitch from running, except I get it both sides and then it goes all the way across the front, so I’m hoping that settles down soon.

I can usually tell where you’re laying, and you favour the left side, just like Toby did, and I’m pretty sure I felt the outline of your foot the other day. Every day activities are becoming a bit more of a struggle, but I’m still managing quite well, even though my lower back gets achy more quickly. I seem to be living in my maternity leggings or pyjama bottoms, seeing as they are the only things that fit me on the bottom properly.

I’ve forgotten to take a picture AGAIN, I’m so sorry, but maybe you’ll be able to tell the difference when you compare last week’s update with next week!

  • I had forgotten about round ligament pain – OUCH! Hope it’s getting a bit easier. I love how you include the information about how your baby is developing – I always found it so fascinating to read as my bump grew.
Thanks for linking up to #bloggerbumps x

    • I know, it’s one of those things I think you forget about until you start getting it again.. a bit like heartburn! Aww, thank you! Is there anything else you think you’d like to see included in the updates? I love reading all the apps and getting the weekly emails on their development x
